Magnetic knife holders
I would like to put a magnetic knife holder up in the kitchen because I can't stand the knife block. I would like one made in the USA, I found one from Udge/Lure that is walnut with a special coating on it that makes it waterproof, odor-proof, etc. I do not have expensive knives. This one uses 3M VHB mounting tape. Has good reviews. Any others that are USA made? I would prefer stainless steel. What are the pros & cons?

I have one I bought off Amazon years ago. It screws in under the cabinet. Works well until you bump a knife handle. That doesn't happen often though. Overall I've been very happy with it. I use a chef's knife for most things and I like I can just grab it. No opening a draw at trying to pull it out of a knife block.

If you mount it on the wall you shouldn't have that problem. My kitchen didn't really have any wall space that wasn't a cabinet where it was convenient.

We have a freestanding model as I didn’t want to drill into the glass tile backsplash and all the ones I found didn’t have a flat back such that I could use the 3M tape or Command strips. So far I like it.

I don't think you'll find stainless as it isn't magnetic unless it has very little nickel (the metal that makes it not rust).

It’s one of the first things going back up as I finish my kitchen remodel down the road. They are handy little things.

Just another idea, will a inside drawer block work? We have one from William Sonoma. Can stack 2 layers of knives if you need to and saves a ton of space. I have the regular use knives on the lower section, a couple of steak knives on top. It's not really 2 levels, but offset so you can 'layer' the knives if that makes sense. Opened up a ton of space on the counter top.
