My family just went through it. Not the flu, not Covid. Just a bad cold. Stuffy, sore throat, no fever but felt feverish. Mild body ache, cough.

All four of us. Mild for day 1, pretty bad for days 2-3, mild for days 4-5. All recovered now. Everybody still had a little post nasal drop, and some cough. But it’s also Texas in December in the allergy capital of the world.

My family is going through the flu now, fortunately, it is the end/latter stages-approx. x11-12 days now. It seems like it has hit us harder than it has in years past. Granted I know we are getting older but the strains are getting worse and really took their toll on me especially.

My wife and I got off a cruise almost two weeks ago.
In the past one of us usually gets off the ship sick.
This year we both were fine, however my mom who came with us got sick about two days after we got home.
We think she caught something around the last day or two.
With that said my godfather in New Jersey who never ever gets sick was also sick last week. He is blaming it on the Flu shot he got a few days before he started getting sick.

I don't really know.

I work over the road a lot, so my diet consists mostly of chocolate, sugar, and caffeine from gas stations.

Never had alcohol, tobacco, coffee, or any schedule 1 controlled substances. My sleep patterns are borderline horrible.

I did have a stuffy nose about seven years ago that was bad enough to get a decongestant.

It lasted for two days, so there is that.

Yep, something definitely going around. I work from home, so not around a lot of people like I used to be. Haven’t been sick in maybe, 6-7 years at least, and I used to have to go into the office daily up until 2 years ago. Hubby’s workplace had lots of people sick he said. He got sick, and a week later I got sick. But we’re both better, other than a nagging cough. We both take vitamin c, and d daily, and he also takes b12. That might be why it didn’t take us down too bad.

To both replies above, sounds like less interaction with the general public is key and that makes sense.

I had my yearly checkup a week ago and I asked my doctor about the flu. She said this has been one of the lightest flu years she can remember, UNTIL Thanksgiving then it seemed to hit hard.

Yes, as happens around this time every year. I had one the week before last; sore throat (at first), headache, runny nose, coughing (still have some residual). No fever, dizziness, congestion or shortness of breath, so I went about my business as usual, as I have done for many years.

On the other hand, my shop owner's 15- or 16-year-old son caught something serious, so much so that he was taken to the best hospital in the area and put on a ventilator. Frown Update: apparently he has myocarditis now. He was not vaccinated.

Idunno. I had a lot of interactions building internet and intranet networks across several states.

Even ran a few stints at IBM world headquarters, the National Data Center, several universities, the CDC, as well as the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta.

(I have never seen that many tons of quarters in the same room at the same time, and couldn't comprehend the monetary value of such.) Eek

Eh…I’m a month or two from my annual sinus issues.

As mentioned it is that time of year that respiratory infections of all sorts seem to peak.

One factor I think is that people gather in close proximity for thanksgiving and have contact with kids that often are Petri dishes for disease, often they are “carriers” spreading the germs without actually getting sick themselves.
This stuff is cyclic all the time, nothing special or noteworthy

No. And, Most Importantly, Not Me. When I Was Working I Got Two To Three Colds Most Years. But Since Retiring, Ten+ Years Ago, I’ve Not Had A Single Cold. Or Flu Either. I Get An Annual Senior-Strength Flu Shot.

Tons of it in my ED. Covid, Flu A and B, some RSV still though that is waning a bit. Also, some other respiratory virus causing fevers as well. I’m wearing a mask (N95) at work again to try and avoid getting sick before my vacation next week.

I haven't fared as well at .38supersig. I finally caught Covid-19 year-before-last and I came down with covidflumonia last year. But, other than that, I rarely catch whatever's going around. When I do it's usually mild and short-lived. (Covid-19 didn't affect me too badly, nor did covidflumonia.)

I never bother with the annual flu vaccines. I didn't bother with the Covid-19 "vaccines." Other than hand-washing and keeping my hands away from my face I don't tend to take any particular measures. (Covid-19 was an exception. I was taking prophylactic rounds of certain vitamins and minerals [Vitamin C and D, Zinc] for that.)

My wife can get sick and, more often than not, I do not catch it from her ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think some people just have stronger immune systems than others is all. Or, in my case, it might (also) be because I'm relatively fit and in relatively good health?
