221 years ago this week, approximately 40 men left St Louis searching for a water way to the Pacific and to explore the new Louisiana Purchase. They were gone a little over 2 years and traveled thousands of miles. Only 1 man was lost (Sergeant Floyd) and he died of what is thought to have been a ruptured appendix. He would not have survived had it occurred in Philadelphia. If you have not read a good book on the journey, I recommend you do. Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose is very good.

Without any real planning I’ve found myself in many places on the Corp of Discovery trails. From the Bitterroot River to St. Louis is as far as I’ve traveled but I expect I’ll be going further. The history of this expedition intrigues me. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------
