There is a video in this thread of Victor Davis Hanson commenting on the palisades fires. But the video does not include all of his commentary.

What he goes on to say is absolutely chilling.

Read the last sentence. VDH is not someone prone to "The sky is falling!" reactions. When he says that we are "a society gone mad" he means that- literally- and his conclusion is based on evidence and logic. We are living in a society that is losing its grip on sanity.

But I wonder if insanity is the right description. Maybe the right word is evil.

Sorry if this sounds medieval, but I think we are witnessing, on our national stage, a battle between good and evil.

This is from his commentary:

"So we are deliberately making these decisions not to develop energy, not to develop a timber industry, not to protect the insurance industry, not to protect houses and property, and we're doing it in almost a purely nihilistic fashion. And Karen Bass should resign. She came to the airport back from Africa.

She had nothing to say. She was confronted at the airport. Why were you in Africa?

Why did you cut the fire department? They cut the fire department by almost 18 million dollars. They gave fire protective equipment to Ukraine's first responder, and she had nothing to say.

She had nothing to say because she couldn't say anything. I don't want to be too pessimistic or bleak tonight, but this is one of the most alarming symptoms of a society gone mad, and if this continues, and if this were to spread to other states, we would become a third world country if we're not in parts already."

I'm wondering if their goal is to return California to a stone age indigenous people. Or just to destroy America economically without regard to but maybe in the name of racial preference.

There is a force of evil in this world. The more of us who accept it, the greater its influence.some recognize the markers of insanity in those who choose evil things. That sort of insanity is based in false principles and the deception necessary to try to legitimize them. The barriers that prevented mass infection of evil are no longer effective. It spreads at the speed of electricity now. Together with a general untethering of religious influence we have a cultural decay that appears to be unstoppable.

While we still must fight the good fight against the Devil's spawn, evil can only be forever destroyed, when Jesus Christ returns (Rev 19:11-21; 20:1-10).

We have lost focus on just about everything. Whatever happens, we as a people will have to own and accept responsibility for.
Be ready.

It’s pretty simple. America lost its’ sanity as social media applications got more widely used. They get their news and information from these platforms and the information is flawed, invalid, etc. Gen Z thinks they can scream at reality and change it. And there are plenty of inthluencers on these apps telling them “you are right.” The biggest problem in America isn’t opioid addiction, it’s dopamine addiction.

Witness the mass “indoctrination” to society of the acceptance of sports gambling. No one wants to work, to produce, to create much of anything anymore. The tv ads are rampant in the college and pro game. All you have to do is hang around a pool, party it up, take a road trip, and place a few bets on your phone. Easy money. Makes me fear for our society. It’s indicative of both evil and insanity, each intent on corrupting our culture for the benefit of the few.

Evil and Satan are absolutely working all day every day.

If you have not seen the movie Nefarious, I highly suggest you do.

There is a little monologue about how Satan works. This is probably the most realistic depictions of how evil truly works.

I posted the VDH commentary in the LA Fires thread, then thought I better look, para actually posted VDH on page 7 of that thread. A scathing review of state and local government’s inaction and wrong action can be expected from Hansen, a bit more surprising is what’s coming from elsewhere. Evil on the part of those in positions of power, mass insanity in those who blindly go along with it.

Evil could best be defined as the lack of good, and there is most certainly a lack of good in this country these days. That lack of good is the direct result of the concerted attacks by evil people against Christianity and Judaism. When society has no moral foundation, the results are quite ugly and we're seeing them in spades.

Based on occurrences in this country in the last 20 years, I am comfortable in the belief that there is an element of evil alive and well within this country, which unfortunately holds high positions in government.

That group has seeded, nurtured, fed, and in many cases protected a level of insanity in this country as part of their overall plan.

As a famous person once said, the best way to find the cockroaches, is turn on the lights so everyone can see. I hope that light is coming soon.

I have never believed in evil so fiercely as I do now. I read an article about a "trans" man who had 6 ribs removed to give him a feminine waist. The kept the bones to make a "crown." The world is so sick, there MUST be outside spiritual forces at work. I've seen a lot of bad things in my life, but never before have I seen it endorsed by government.

Locking us up for a year is what I think first started all this garbage. We were a science experiment. Lab Rats or whatever you want call it. We sure aren’t treating each other with dignity and respect. The people responsible for this need serious punishment. To the FULL extent of the law.

Fairfax and Loudoun Counties have problems. At times, I have four cars parked in front of my property. My friends would come over in the past and there was no place to park and/or they thought I had visitors.

When I parked in front of the house, I got a $100 ticket since you can't park within 8 feet of the driveway.
Two cars were broken into and they must have put something in the oil because the engine stated running badly and I checked the compression and it was low with one cylinder having zero.

"So we are deliberately making these decisions not to develop energy, not to develop a timber industry, not to protect the insurance industry, not to protect houses and property, and we're doing it in almost a purely nihilistic fashion.

But wait, there's more ...

And to finish, what we're seeing in California is a state with 40 million people. And yet the people who run it feel that it should return to a 19th century pastoral condition. They are de-civilizing the state and de-industrializing the state and de-farming the state. But they're not telling the 40 million people that their lifestyles will have to revert back to the 19th century, when you had no protection from fire… You didn't have enough water in California. You didn't have enough power. You didn't pump oil. So we are deliberately making these decisions not to develop energy, not to develop a timber industry, not to protect the insurance industry, not to protect houses and property. And we're doing it in almost a purely nihilistic fashion."

What all of that amounts to, returning the land to "a 19th century pastoral condition" ultimately means de-population.

Yes, it's evil.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Yet that is nothing compared to WWII and what Americans went through during that time. A living antichrist exterminating Jewish people, 2/3 in Europe alone. Wars on multiple continents. Or the Cold War with the daily threat of nuclear war. C19 was nothing in comparison. But I get your point. I talked to a PD officer a few months ago and he said “Covid never left” in reference to this behavior. People are just mindless super consumers. During Covid my gym closed for 6 whole weeks. I could still go outside, walk, run, bike. I could go to the lake. I lost my only family member to that nasty virus and that was hard. But the mandates, etc, even though they were stupid, well it wasn’t WWIII. People need to get over it. It was 4 years ago. Oh the horror you had to stay home and stream series/movies, or play video games or something. People act like it was Red Dawn Roll Eyes

I am not a prude, but in the past 10 years, especially, we have seen sex debased. When there is no affection at all between the partners, it becomes what Robin Williams called "sport fucking."

The only way sport fucking keeps going is by continually exceeding itself. To remain exciting, the bar has to keep being pushed up. Threesomes. Orgies. All sorts of fetishes, like peeing on your partner, or choking her, or slapping her around. On a website called "Fans Only" a woman is putting on a show of having serial sex, one after another, with 1000 men. She's a prostitute, so she'll do anything for money. But millions of fans are paying to watch this bizarre spectacle.

In 2008, I published a book called The Porning of America . The premise was that porn used to exist on the margins of our culture. It was very hard to find. Sold under the counter. Now, we are swamped with porn. Kids no longer have to try to find porn. Porn finds them.
