smithnsig5 y.o. fox terrior and thunder storms
My jack Russell/ smooth fox terrier loses it with thunder, even in the distance. I may have to try the thunder shirt.

I guess she figured that was her den. The best thing I found was just to talk to her in a normal calm tone, scratch her head now and then and keep some quiet background music going, try to get her to understand that there was nothing to be afraid of. It only sort of worked. If I'd known about Thundershirt then, I probably would have tried one.
Mine did the same thing. He got so bad that he actually taught himself how to open the closet door and walk in there. I was told that many GSD's suffer from that. It drove me nuts.

Or a heavy, appropriate to the dogs size, blanket works. We use a blanket to cover our female during storms and fireworks.
In sever cases, a vet prescribed sedative may be needed.

The best I could ever do for her was, upon realizing she always went to the same area in the house when scared by a storm, I began to move her crate there as needed.

Bonnie has a queen sized pillow that Rose likes to nap on during the day.
it has a king sized pillow case on it ,
when she ( Rose) feels the need, she will get on the pillow inside the pillow case

if you
do not know where to look ,you would swear that she had evaporated
