You may or may not have heard of "Gary Vee." His real name is Gary Vaynerchuk. He has gained a lot of popularity based on his successes building up businesses. If you are interested, here is the Wikipedia page about him.

I stumbled across this short clip of him (NSFW--profanity):


So, here's my proposal, let's test out his idea in this thread. You can post anything you want in it once per day. Will your post be something that inspires others? Will you choose to respond to a post within the thread? Will the emotion surrounding your post be different here than in other threads? Let's see if his idea has merit.

And go....

Interesting idea. I bet someone runs with his in 2022.

I could also see this concept being abused in places like China, where your social credit score dictates how often you can post.

I’m not even going to give in to the instinct… No way. I am thinking about this. Thinking with a capital T H I n K I N G….

Dedicating some serious cogitation to what I want to say. Giving it a real thorough run through the noggin.

Gonna hit the ol library and bone up on the classics for some solid referential quotes.

It will be EPIC. A life changing post for one and all.

All the weight of thought you expect from Marcus Aurelius, with the down home folksy wisdom of Clemens, and a touch, just the merest hint, of persiflage a la Pelham Grenville Wodehouse….

300+ times the views as there are posters. Does that mean the idea has no merit or are people unsure what to post?

I thought it was an interesting idea and also found it odd coming from someone who suggests multiple posts per day on any media platform possible.

@Beancooker, I saw your post and wonder if you might not be onto something. I wish you hadn't deleted your post.

Is it possible people now feel pressure to perform in some way given the influx of social media outlets? Is there pressure to be witty or humorous? Fear that there won't be recognition for the attempt(s) made?

No pressure here, post what you like, just keep it to a post a calendar day. So for those of Wink you fiending for multiple posts, it might require a late night to accomplish.

@h2oys, I still appreciate your "Monday Morning Quote of the Week" threads. Here is one that crossed my path recently:


Using the quote to transition to learning, I have heard "teach someone something today.". Sometimes I like to flip that to "learn something new today."

Last week, this crossed my path and I realized that I have spent the better part of 50 years using i.e. and e.g. knowing what they meant but not knowing what they abbreviated. I even knew they were abbreviations but never took the time to learn what was being abbreviated. So, maybe I can teach someone something today and someone will learn something new today. I close with this:
