The cost on them has always been sky high permissle and the launch system. Back in 2003 when we invaded Iraq, an ODA team that had to hold a cross road had a guy become the first javelin "ace." Prior to that, no one on the team had fired an actual missle in training (only the line of sight training rounds) due to the cost.
