Rumors of my death
are greatly exaggerated

I'm currently in the hospital watching my mom pass. She is 92 years old, and hasn't had any quality of life for the last few years or so. She has been living in an assisted care facility for the last 5-6 years, dealing with failing eyesight due to macular degeneration and failing kidneys. She fell and broke her hip Sunday, and it's been downhill since then. Now all her organs are shutting down. Just not a great way to finish up her time on earth.

So my friends, I'm not asking for your sympathy, maybe some prayers, but more to ask my friends out there to slow down, stop and take the time to make that phone call or visit you've been putting off to those who were once close to you, or who angered you and ran you off. Don't let our fast paced, instant gratification world run and ruin your life. Take time to enjoy what you have, spend time with those that really matter, and treasure your time here. Our lives flash by. You go from zero to old and challenged before you know it. Be kind and live a life you will be proud to look back on. Thanks for letting me ramble on....it helps.

You've got it. My prayers are sent to you and your mom. May she pass peacefully.
Your advice is invaluable. Thanks.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

My mom passed from Covid related Pneumonia two years ago . The last few years were pretty damn rocky and we basically hadn't spoken for many months . I tried to get along but she made it too difficult . As I watched her take her last breath I never shed a tear . It's not supposed to be that way .
I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you have fond memories to hold on to .

Sorry to hear this but 92 years, even 80 some odd good ones is a good run.
Hopefully her caregivers can make things as good as possible for her and you.
I went through this sort of thing about a decade ago with both parents. I was fortunate, no family squabbles and no major health issues up to almost the end. But I've certainly thought of a few things I'd like to ask them but can't now.

BTDT more times than I care to think of. Its never enjoyable.

But what I know is we are all gone in an instant. It is all that leads up to that instant that is important, to us and those whose lives' we've touched, for good or ill.

I'd say your mother was pretty damned successful, based on how you turned out.

I'll be sending prayers your way. Lately we have had too much death in our family so I have an idea of what you are dealing with. I hope your Mom makes a peaceful transition, and I hope, after a while, you only think about the good times.

Her difficulty is over now. It’s my firm belief she’s with her loving Maker and an angel herself. This understanding has brought me great peace. I hope it does for you too.

Sorry for your loss. She's pain-free now and enjoying her next life.

I went through the same thing with both my parents. I was with them both when they passed. It absolutely sucks at the time but as time passes you are going to be grateful you were there. Sending good thoughts your way Colorado.

My condolences sir. While it’s certainly tough on the loved one, in a way it’s much harder on the family. May angels lead her in and prayers and thoughts to you and family.

I watched my father pass like that, except he started healthy and was injured. Ambulance to death in one week.

Email is in profile. It's hard. Real hard.

I owe a statement of his life to this board as he was a remarkable man, and I still can't write it.

May God comfort you during this time, and the days that will come after.

I'll be thinking of you.
