I am getting tired of the "we have a cash buyer for your home" from the same live person two or three times a week.

Somehow this "Ray" keeps getting around the block caller but, is calling from a valid number.

Is there anywhere this number can be posted somewhere for the dregs of society to call "Ray"?

You'd probably be posting some innocent's number, assuming "Ray" is clever enough to be spoofing someone else's number while doing his spamming.

Post it here, I’m sure we could keep Ray busy.

The number has invariably been spoofed and you'd be doing a grave disservice to the actual number owner to have it bombarded.

Yes. Spoofing makes this problematic.

How ever there must be parts of government that is supposed to address this.

Maybe whenever someone asks for a phone number and they don’t really need it, maybe we should provide an official number for our friends in government. I can think of a few governors and congress critters to start.

Be willing to do that just to see if it was spoofed or is actually some sort of broker or realtor.

Easy enough to find out. Call the number back and see if it's really Ray's number.

If you're calling from a CDMA phone, stick a *67 in front of the number; that will suppress your outgoing Caller ID for that call.

GSM phones don't use the *67 convention, you would have to go into phone settings to block your outgoing Caller ID.

If it is his real number create a fake Craigslist account and put his number in males seeking males.

Actually, I'm not sure what they stand for. They are two different types of transmission technology. Last I knew, AT&T and T-Mobile used GSM, Sprint and Verizon used CDMA. That might have changed with 5G phones, I haven't kept up with that stuff.

I now use this as one of my stock arguments against democrats. I tell them that when the government can figure out how to make the no call list work, I'll think about trusting them with more complicated things.

Those are usually randomly generated from available numbers. They'll have a block on incoming. If the number gets taken for a legit user, it comes off their list, but then you'd be harassing an innocent person. 95% of all my spam calls come from TX. From a half dozen or so area codes, never the same number.

I talked to someone at the FCC about this last year and they said there's no technical issue stopped them from preventing telemarketers doing using spoofing. However, we need to contact our elected officials to make it so the FCC is allowed to do something.

I think we should be using scammers as training fodder for our cyberwarfare trainees. Plant something like stuxnet on their servers to turn off their cooling, turn their drives up to 100,000 rpm, etc.

It'd be a win/win for America as it'd improve citizens' lives and give our trainess real world tune-up versus the JV.
