I’ve been wearing a Carhartt carpenter or lately cargo pocket type Carhartt pants, mostly Carhartt Tees with chambray shirts or flannel shirts and a pair of Irish Setter Wingshooters or Danner Quarry’s for about 45 years or so lol. Probably not the coolest looking dude but it’s been practical for me. Always a GShock…

My father had nice watches, he was about my current age when he gave them to my brother and I, and just switched to wearing various dressy quartz ones/putting radio controlled clocks everywhere.

And, I get it. While I like the craftsmanship of my nicer watches, it’s hard to reconcile with paying more, for a less effective product, so now I wear a G shock which is always accurate.

(Might switch to a Seiko Astron, as I think they could be a bit more comfortable.)

There is great power in truly not caring. I am mostly there. Don't get me wrong, I don't dress like a vagabond and am generally presentable, but I am at the age now where I don't give much thought about the way I dress (I emphasize comfort over snappy dressing). And Mrs. chbibc is usually around to make certain my wardrobe is acceptable as needed and suggests (ok, insists on) appropriate upgrades when required.

After having a child, I will say I quit buying nice clothes for a while.
Spit up and sticky fingers stained too many items to count.
Even now at preteen if my kid reaches for me (super rare), I don’t want to stiff arm him and say “My man! Watch the threads!”
Also, I am not a fashion queen. I do like to look nice, but I find few events we are engaging in these days to be worthy of it. I won’t dress to the nines for a child’s sports event. To me, that’s silly.
YMMV
