I had been a member for 5 years, decided to join the Navy for a multitude of reasons.

A Karma turned into many folks putting my name in the hat instead of theirs, was pretty moving for me.

For those that remember, it was well over a decade ago!

I’ve attempted to repair the internals of the knife several times, to no avail. Honestly, I don’t use it. So I’ll put it together, lock it with the blade out, and include it in my shadow box with my flag and ribbons when I retire. Which is a little more than 9 years away now Big Grin

10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

While I understand the sentiment, I feel obligated to point out that I've been retired for 34 years 5 months and 7 days. And that was after 21 years and 7 months of active duty.

(Not that I'm counting or anything...) Big Grin

And yes, this is an amazing place.

OttoSig,

Who’s the manufacturer? Have you contacted them with the caveat that it has sentimental value and that if it cannot be repaired you request that it be returned in its present condition?

Congrats to those who've already made it to retirement, and to OP, it's just around the corner. I too am packing it in on April 11th. Done! I'll be 60 at the end of this month.

If that is a Microtech, I believe they offer refurbishment of their older products.

It is, I’ll look into it and like another member stated, I’ll mention the significance of the knife beyond its monetary value.
