Looks like well over a quarter of an inch! From the news, its the end of the world. Our always wrong weather guesser is having the time of his life. The predicted 1-3", but as usual they over blew it. I can still see the neighbors grass, but not the deck out front here. Looking at the top rail, its easily the quarter inch, but no where near a half. At the wild ass news, my wife put her little car in the garage, I guess to keep it from getting crushed by the snow load.

Me, I pulled a cover over me on my recliner.

Somebody turned on the winter switch up here.

Completely effed up my plans to fly down to the FCS football championship game tomorrow.

Not cold, but a metric shit-ton of snow. Roads effed up, closures, flight cancellations, accidents.

Dang it.

Can't complain too much though as we haven't had a real winter in a few years. After last summer's three months of 100+ weather and no rain, it is a welcome sight.

All the local schools let out yesterday (the 6th) at noon in preparation for the predicted 1-3 inches of snow. Looking out my front door just now, we didn't even get the one inch. (I don't know at what time the snow actually fell.) Cars and grass have a little snow on them, but the roads are clear (but could still be icy).

In the winter of 1982/83 I worked in Mammoth Lakes, CA, a ski resort town 7800' in the Sierras. That was also an El Niño year, so the snowfall was exceptionally heavy, some 18 feet IIRC. One could go skiing clear to July 4th. And there was also a "swarm" of small but still shaky earthquakes. (All of this area was volcanically active in the past.) That was enough snow for me, thanks.

Getting 3-6 this morning. First snow worth using the snow blower this year. So I’m not complaining. Of course we could get 3 storms or 20 this year. Never really know.

Ooh I didn't panic enough. The 3-6" is apparently a BOMB CYCLONE!!! Run away Run away!!!!

A bomb cyclone is simply when the atmospheric pressure drops 24 millibars in 24 hours. Just kidding! It’s really a great way to get viewers to tune in and readers to click on links on their phone/iPad/computer. Oh my gosh, a BOMB CYCLONE! it’s the end of the world!!! Tune in now and watch our ads! Click this link and watch our ads! 40 million people in the path of this storm! (Oh, you mean there’s a typical winter storm heading for the northeast?)

Is that the historical norm in yor area? Back when I lived where it snowed, we used to wake up at 4:30am the day of the predicted storm, tune in WISN radio, and hope we heard our district called, so we could go cross country skiing and sledding on our day off.

Well, it’s snow-mageddon in the Cascade passes of Washington State. All three East-West passes are closed until Sunday.

We are currently in Seattle and are planning for a long detour starting this morning.

I just looked out after tossing a log in the stove. Looks like about 8" fell since last evening with light snow still falling and 14 degrees here in northern WV.
Looks like I'll be using the bucket on the tractor after coffee.

Anybody use this to track snowfall nationally?

https://www.ventusky.com/?p=39.5;-101.1;4&l=snow

We get less than 20" a year locally, and we're behind. What can be even worse is 2" or more rain, which saturates my yard making it difficult to move the truck around doing chores.

I have an interesting patchwork of right side tire scars all over it. One episode took 8 hours to get off the grass.

I got my differential locker in the post and it's sitting waiting for it to get nicer, 13F right now with 1.5 of snow out there. Here's what will happen: I will get it installed, and then, we won't get any more snow until next year. It's happened when I bought a Cherokee and a Forester, all that 4WD or AWD and no snow to go have fun in it.

Explained that to my wife and she remarked, no, it won't snow, it will be 3" of sleet and my locker will still be useless.

She could be right. Happens every time.

LOL well Tirod if it makes you feel any better the 72" bucket for my tractor is backordered until Spring so all I have is the little 4' one. I'll have to take the tooth bar off and use it, which is going to take a while....
