Had a package out for delivery from Top Gun Supply today. But we had a snowstorm and my hill wasn’t in any shape for a mail truck. To my shock I got a notification it was delivered. Only it wasn’t.

I sent an inquiry and got a call a few hours later. Mailman mistakenly clicked “delivered” instead of “no access”. Well my mailman owns a big Jeep. He brought my package in his personal truck after his shift.

Now that is service.

These go to eleven.

"Who are you talking to?"
"It's Brad, from Top Gun Supply"
Sure. "What are you wearing? Brad, from Top Gun Supply!"

Oh, wait, this is about the USPS. Nevermind.

Brad was quick to reply when I emailed that it hadn’t been delivered.

USPS is notorious for marking something delivered only for it to arrive a day later. Had happened to me about 8x

Good on your driver. Well done!!

That's your mailman stepping up, not USPS. USPS sucks.

Exactly. USPS is terribly run with lazy union workers that give no value to taxpayers. They are the worst out of any shipping business. And yes, they are a business except they would not survive if not taxpayer funded. I know there are some good employees but USPS needs to be shut down. In my area they have progressively gotten worse the last 25 years and complaints do no good and yield no results.

Like someone said, that employee did well after he got off work and good for him for going out of his way.

USPS has been stepping up in our area lately. It's been nice for a change.

The women in our local post office are great. The rural carriers are hit or miss. One was getting written up a lot but they couldn't get rid of him. Then COVID hit and he played that card to the hilt. Finally they got enough evidence to discharge him but he and the union took it to every level of appeal and he got his job back after a one year fight.

Yeah, that's your mailman, and you are fortunate. Around here, they can't be bothered.

Let me put it this way- if I have outgoing mail, no longer will I place it in my mailbox for pickup. I drive to my local post office and drop it in the slot. My concern is not mail thieves. These people just can't be bothered. You get the idea.

This. In my experience, good service came from individual postal employees acting contrary to the USPS institutional culture.

Yup, definitely my mailman. The post office supervisor called me to explain before he dropped off the mail.

I've been lucky to have had the same mailman for the entire 4 years we've been here. I take care of him at Christmas and he clearly appreciates it.

These go to eleven.

You don't think he took it upon himself to delver the package after hours? His supervisor had to let him take the package out of the Post Office after hours. And that is the Postal Service in general stepping up.

Utility workers blocked part of the road and access to our mailbox a few days ago so the mailman (yes, man) stopped beyond all the vehicles and walked the mail back to our box. I came out to meet the school bus and ended up meeting him at the box. I’m surprised he didn’t just drive on by and deliver it the next day. I thanked him; he wasn’t our regular mailwoman.
