Questions about baseboard and trim installation?

RileyQuestions about baseboard and trim installation?
Recovering from water damage and finally getting the baseboards installed.
It’s going well but I’m looking for suggestions for caulk and material to fill the nail holes.
I was planning on DAP Alex paintable caulk and DAP plastic wood or spackle for the nail holes.
Any other suggestions? 6” tall x 1/2” thick eased edge Craftsman base with corners cut to go around bullnose corners.
For the trim I’ll be matching the cased windows and patio door that have 3/4” thick x 5 1/2” wide S4S vertical boards and would like to match all the doors and window to the two existing cased windows. However, some of the doors would only fit 3 1/2” wide door casing trim because of layout. Would that be appropriate or would it look odd or appear as poorly done?
Thanks!

BluecobraDAP Dynaflex 230. It is elastomeric so it stays flexible like silicone BUT it can be painted after it sets up. The DAP Alex caulk tends to yellow over time, or at least it has for me.

YellowJacket230 for corners. For the nail holes, DAP Plastic Wood, the pink putty filler, is what we use. I just finished chair rail, picture rail, and (faux) judges panels below the chair rail in my dining room this past weekend.

RileyThanks all, these materials worked well for me!
I bought a Milwaukee powered caulk gun but it’s getting sold. It’s too fast for my needs. I bought a nicer drip less manual gun that works better for me.

wrightdThere's a metric ton of experience and good advice on the Great Sigforum, I never cease to be amazed. Yes, even for caulk. If there's a question, there's tested and reliable advice right here.

Captain MorganDrydex not caulk because it shrinks. I have installed tons of baseboard and trim and all I use is Drydex. Plus it dries fast to paint.
Also cope the corners instead of mitering.

learned to cope trim from my Dad and Granddad, easy to do once you get the hang of it,
it was a thing for houses etc with stained internal trim,
now most houses here have painted trim, and the few I have walked thru during construction, they miter and caulk everything,
seems it does a great job hiding gaps between the trim and wallboard

Captain MorganAs the expression goes, Caulk and paint, make it what it aint.
