David LeeThe Tillman Act, Teddy Roosevelt, Super Pacs and Robber Barons ?
I am trying to grasp a little of all this. Some years back I viewed on the History Channel a series about Americas Industrialists buying a election. At some point in time it was out lawed. A group called Citizens United brought suit against the FEC in which the Supreme Court overturned Tillman. I love the history of all the big players involved. However, most recently we see big money influence from mini michael bloomberg in Virginias elections. And here we are. I dont want internet links of this if I can learn what you know. It looks like the Court gave them 1st A permission to buy our elections. Least wise this is how I interpret what I have learned so far. Is this good for our Country ? Can we really counter this by mass voting ? What can you tell me ? Thread title edited for correction.

bigwagonIf you believe that money is the root of the problem in our current political system, it's not hard to draw the conclusion that Citizens United made the problem worse.

At its core, Citizens United v FEC was a 1st Amendment case.
