I don't know if any SF members were able to attend Saturday; I was not, but did send some flowers. The note with the flowers said something like "To Jim Allen who shared his wisdom and wit with many friends he had never met". Signed [by me and Mrs. Till] and "SigForum friends"
Martine sent a very sweet note:
quote:
I was so moved and touched by the flowers you send to the church. Thank you so much. Such a magnificent bouquet. I placed it next to his photo in front of the altar. The service was really nice (very hard on me... that was probably the hardest thing I had to do). His younger son, brother and nephew talked and gave good stories illustrating his life. I found great tuba music. Lots of family and friends were there.
Best and warmest regards, Martine

As I've posted previously, I met Jim back in 2007 at a class. I emailed occasionally with him over the years.
I really wanted to come to the service, but had another family commitment - one I didn't want to note at the time as it was pretty much the opposite of this service - we had about 50 people together for a birthday celebration for my father - who turned 100 earlier this week.
Jim, I really enjoyed your posts, and already miss your wit and wisdom.
