hudrWith all this talk of “Californication”...
When will we be able to move back in?
I mean, there has to come a point (years, decades, millennia) when everyone has moved out of California, and the folks left just breed themselves out or become extinct or something.
How long will it take before that state become “The West” again and we can repopulate it?
I assume it’ll take more than new carpet and a fresh coat of paint.

Il CattivoI'm afraid we're waiting for a sustained economic downturn the likes of which California hasn't seen since the Depression. Even then, enough solid people would have to move (back) in to counterbalance the leaches and airheads who'd slime back in as prosperity returned.

FredwardI'm waiting for my country to become America again. Not in my lifetime, I think.

TXJIMThis is funny as I casually said to the wife just the other day, “I think we should retire to California when the kids are gone”. She looked at me like I had two heads and we both laughed as I told her my plan. With all of the Californians moving out with the tech exodus we just slide in with a bunch of other conservatives and take over.

BeancookerJust watch Venezuela as the parallel model.
When Venezuela becomes a first world country, and people are immigrating there, and they have border control issues and can’t stop the influx of people.... Then California will follow.
This won’t happen in our lifetimes. Not even in your great grandchildren’s lifetimes.

They'd like that. Someone has to pay for the unfunded pension liabilities and the state bond debt.

The liberals aren't going anywhere till the party's over, the hangover arrives and their bills come due. That's when they'll move to another state and let the suckers pay for their party.

sigspecopsI'm still waiting for that earthquake that makes California an island. Hopefully their state mandated electric vehicles won't have the range to escape and they'll all be stranded there forever.

az4783054To many east coast and west coast people moving to AZ...with their embedded ideals. The only good thing about the migration is they're bringing cash.
We're hopefully going to leave the state: MT, WY, KY or TN. Someplace bright red and a sparse population.

corsairCalifornia = great land, horrible people
Most parts of the US = ok land, great people
There's a number of counties that are solidly purple, wouldn't take much to tilt those political scales back to red.

I don't know if the earthquake would make CA an island. It might be Nevada has beachfront property. Can Tesla's self drive under water?

Depending on the investment rate of return, the present value of the unfunded pension liabilities is between ~$400Billion and ~$1Trillion. You don't think the illegal's can cover that??
