My kitty kitty has another injury on his right rear foot, much like before. His left most toe is swelled and atop, after a days hobbling around, has a drop of blood that surfaces. I took him to the Vet Friday. They shaved his foot, soaked it for 8 minutes, gave him a antibiotic shot and oral for anti inflamatory. I gave 2 days doses of the inflamation pill and am on 3rd oral dose of Orbax. The Doc could not see anything lodged in his foot. If his foot don't heal, and thus far he carries that leg, no weight on the foot, they will sedate him and explore further. Orbax seems to be just around $50.00 on line yet it cost $90.00 at the Vet. They will do a radiography if he has to go back. I feel terrible for the little guy. I am wondering what this could end up costing me. Any misspellings in this post are due to mosquitos attacking ne here.

Many vet practices will price match medications found elsewhere. Just a thought, doesn't hurt to ask.

Thank you. I didn't know that. They did Friday exactly what they did a month or two back but the 1st visit he got rabies shot too. This 2nd visit was $100.00 more. Reading on line here a bit, looks like a radiography can go as high as $500.00. Darn pooty tat. He's gotta stop getting hurt.

It's normal for vets to have higher prices for drugs (or food or normal pet supplies) than you can find online. If your vet won't match the price, you can go to places like Chewy.com or 1800PetMeds.com and order the medication there yourself. They'll contact your vet to confirm the prescription before they ship it, but that usually only takes a day. They'll ship it directly to you then. I've used both of them over the years and they've always been pretty quick.

Thank you for that advice Expert. The antibiotic they sold me is $90.00 for a tiny bottle. Before, the antibiotic he had, which compares and works on all the same pet health issues was tablet form, much easier to administer and, only cost $.89 per dose. It worked good. So far, his foot is not healing up good and he barely touches the ground on it. Something is not right.
