Flying to Minneapolis Sunday to spend a week up there for training. What to see and where to eat?

Been to the big ass mall so not interested in going there unless I can get a behind the scene tour with gecko45.

Never been to the city, but that is one of the nicest airports in the world. You could probably do very well in the airport.

Where are you staying?

And yes, MSP is recognized as one of the nicest airports around.

Jucy Lucy burger, for sure. Big Grin Either at Matt's or 58 Club.

Try to catch a ballgame at Target Field if you can. That's a beautiful ballpark.

Any specific interests you have?

What kind of food do you like?

A few places off the top of my head:
If you're into history:
* Fort Snelling
* MN History Center

If you like gardens, check out the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at the Como Zoo

The Bulldog Has great food and a nice selection of beer on tap.

Victor's 1959 Cafe Great Cuban food - It's a pretty small place, go early, expect a line...

If you like cheesecake - Cafe Latte - their food is decent too, but their deserts are what I go for Big Grin

If you like pastries - Salty Tart in midtown global plaza (area is a little rough, but I've never had any issues there). Owner I believe has won multiple James Beard awards. There are other good ethnic foods available there too. They also have a spot somewhere in the MSP airport... If you (or someone you know) likes coconut macaroons I'd highly recommend picking some up (My fiancee refers to them as "Crackeroons"), everyone I've given them too has said they were the best they've ever had.

Ice cream? Go to Izzy's

I'll try to add more later this weekend...

Saturday and Sunday the Grillfestival is going on at CHS Field downtown St. Paul. I'm thinking of going. Lots of food to sample, many different beers, a Bloody Mary contest. I'm sitting here poised to buy tickets for tomorrow.

The Twins are playing The Chicago White Sox at Taget Field on Sunday. It'll be a beautiful day for a game in a beautiful stadium.

I am not BIPOLAR. I don't even like bears.

When I lived in the Twin Cities, years ago, I liked the German food (and beer) at the Black Forest Inn. 26th St. & Nicollet Ave. Just south of downtown Mpls.

You will be about 25 minutes from Tilia. It is well worth the drive. The food is fantastic.

I just remembered… Harvey Mayslack, a retired pro wrestler, had a restaurant, “Mayslack’s”, at 1428 4th St. NE. An institution, the house specialty was a roast beef sandwich. Drenched in garlic gravy, it was the best that I’ve ever eaten. It was huge. Harvey always said, “Use both hands,” when he handed it to you. I’m sure that Harvey is deceased, but the restaurant is still there.

I think it's good to sample the local cuisine. Try the lutefisk, it's an experience you'll not soon forget.

It has fallen in both reputation and quality in the last decades.

Unless you like driving a lot, downtown Mpls is kind of a long way away just for dinner, but I bet Ronin has some ideas.
