Tapper did a reasonably good job and pushing Sheriff Coward around, plenty of sound bites that wont look good for him come re-election time.

He's a blame shifting coward not worthy to lick the toilet bowl clean after I've had horrendous diarrhea.

After being confronted by CNN's Jake Tapper about his department's refusal to act after receiving a tip about Nikolas Cruz being a potential "school shooter in the making," Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel insisted that he provided "amazing leadership" to the department after blaming the lapse on an underling.

Israel, who has been a frequent presence on cable news - including during CNN's gun-control town hall last week - since 19-year-old Cruz shot and killed 16 of his teenage classmates and a gym teacher during a Valentine's Day rampage, refused to take responsibility for failing to stop Cruz - eliciting an incredulous response from Tapper.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Andrew Pollack, Father of Meadow Pollack, on Fox with Chris Wallace teed this up, put everything into perspective, and someone needs to hit it home: Its about taking real action protecting vs confiscation, real vs BS. This is about doing something, not the foolish, phony political snowflake agenda.

Protection.

Actions set to protect and secure. Not confiscation, not reacting to emotion, not "warm & fuzzy" feelings.

We protect banks, airports, federal buildings, courts, police stations, hard assets. Schools are hard assets.

It's one of the reasons why countries with many guns (existing gun laws are still enforced) have low crime rates. Everywhere you go, they are set up to offensively protect against violence, not wait for it to happen than react.

JALLEN - I'm part of the choir. You are right 100x over.

Ignorance isn't bliss - it's getting annoying. I get its all political. That most people don't know what a sear is, that automatic vs semiautomatic is worlds apart to SF, But really, what the hell is the difference between an AR-15 from any other gun; a round goes into a chamber, gets seated, bullet goes through a barrel, and every gun can kill. What, the AR-15 just looks scary? It's black, so it's racist?

I had a real conversation with someone yesterday who wanted to ban all auto AR-47's, semiauto machine guns, and all other nasty Assault Rifles. I made him go take inventory of old suture kits.

Dana Loesch was on the Sunday morning news show that George Stephanopoulos hosts this morning.

Dana is just the most composed spokesperson. Every point that she tried to make GS would interrupt and try to talk over her. She still managed to get the NRA talking points across. With explanations and possible resolutions clearly laid out. I was very impressed. She even got the prick to agree with her a couple times.

Next interview was a kid named Hogg. He was allowed to speak freely with no interruptions. Just ripping on the NRA like that's who shot his classmates instead of the little psycho that actually did.

Big surprise, I know.

more on the 5 Jan call to the FBI

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/0...ip-nikolas-cruz.html

When the second tip reached the F.B.I. in West Virginia in January, a specialist was able to view the earlier tip, too. But even then, the specialist, in consultation with her supervisor, decided that there was not enough evidence to pursue it and that it did not appear to be an imminent threat.

The acting F.B.I. deputy director, David L. Bowdich, briefed congressional staff members about the case on Friday and acknowledged the bureau’s failure to investigate, according to three people with direct knowledge of the meeting.

Over the course of the January call, which lasted more than 13 minutes, the tipster warned the F.B.I. that Mr. Cruz had been adrift since his mother’s death in November. She said that Mr. Cruz had “the mental capacity of a 12 to a 14 year old.”

The tipster provided four Instagram accounts for Mr. Cruz, which she said showed photos of sliced up animals and the firearms he had amassed. The caller, whose name was redacted on the transcript, said Mr. Cruz had used money from a life insurance policy after his mother’s death to purchase the weapons.

“If you go onto his Instagram pages, you’ll see all the guns,” the woman said.

Before calling the F.B.I., the woman telephoned Broward sheriff’s deputies in Parkland, worried that Mr. Cruz might kill himself. But she did not hear back from them and became increasingly alarmed after she said Mr. Cruz posted online that “he wants to kill people.”

Not ban ... but take the public out of schools.
No more government schools. Private schools will educate better and keep kids safer.

He's not just a scumbag, he's a lying scumbag.

Public records show at least 45 RESPONSES SINCE 2008.

Records Show Far More Calls For Sheriff's Deputies To Visit Suspected Florida Shooter's Home

Broward County sheriff's officials said in a statement late Saturday that they responded only to 23 calls involving suspected Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz or his family over the years, but records obtained by BuzzFeed News show at least 45 responses since 2008.

The number of calls made over the years involving Cruz or his family, according to the call records, are nearly twice the number publicly disclosed by the department.

On Saturday night, the Broward County Sheriff's Office released a statement pushing back on reports that they had been called more than the 23 incidents released by the department.

"Since 2008, BSO responded to 23 incidents where previous contact was made with the killer or his family," the sheriff's office said in its statement. "STOP REPORTING 39; IT'S SIMPLY NOT TRUE."

The Broward County Sheriff's Office did not respond to BuzzFeed News' questions about the additional calls, or how it determined to include the 23 calls that were disclosed to the public, but not the others.

The statement Saturday was released in conjunction with a letter that was sent by Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel to Florida Gov. Rick Scott, rebutting claims made by Bill Hager, a Florida legislator who called for the sheriff's removal.

"Mr. Hager's claim of '39 visits by' BSO deputies is simply fiction," Israel wrote in his letter to Scott.

The increased pressure against Israel's department comes amid an internal investigation into how deputies responded to two calls, one in 2016 and another in 2017, where the caller reported Cruz was collecting weapons and could potentially become a school shooter.

Dispatch records obtained by BuzzFeed News show that, since 2008, there were 22 calls to send deputies to Cruz's home that have not been publicly disclosed by the department.

Like many of the calls revealed by the Broward County Sheriff's Office, several of them involved domestic disturbance issues involving Cruz, his brother Zachary, and their adoptive mother.

Most of the calls involved their adoptive parents reporting that Zachary had not come home after curfew, or that he'd left the house without telling them or despite their objections. Others appear to be calls from neighbors, including one who reported the two brothers were throwing water balloons.

Others are unclear who is being referring to, though the call was made by a parent at the same home, reporting that their 12-year-old son was throwing things and cursing at a computer.

BuzzFeed News obtained the records from the sheriff's office after a request for information about all calls that were made to the Cruz's home.

The call records reviewed by BuzzFeed News show that the calls were made between Nov. 12, 2011, and Nov. 30, 2016. Most of them make no mention of Cruz, but some of the 23 calls that have been disclosed by the department also make no mention of the suspected shooter.

I remember that guy. I was a student at UT back then. That day, I was at a rifle range at Newport, RI during Navy OCS.

In fairness, it should be pointed out that back then, nearly everyone was a Democrat, especially in Austin. The tide had started to turn, but most elective offices were filled by Democrats. Bill Clements, elected in 1979, was the first GOP Governor since reconstruction.

Democrats in those days were different. I liked Democrats then. Some of them were friends of mine. Many of them were decent, clean people, but I wouldn’t want my sister to marry one.

See my post a couple up from here, he was lying about the 23 calls to the shooter's house. The actual number is 45 calls since 2008. The scumbag obviously didn't think people would actually check the PUBLIC RECORDS. If he's not gone by the end of the week, something is desperately wrong in Florida.
