It's a pastry, similar to a Boston Cream Donut, with a filling like raspberry, lemon strawberry, etc, and frosted on top, usually white or chocolate. Originally from Poland (or at least mostly made in this country by Polish bakeries), it's a treat served on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday to recognize the beginning of Lent Fasting.
