Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

Bought a mixed dozen at Costco last week.
So good they should be illegal!

Yes. They are good but, we have no Polish bakeries around here so I have to deal with store bought ones.

My girlfriend picked up some this afternoon, but they don't do much for me so I passed.

Tonight's dinner is two paczkis for her (her second and third of the evening already Eek) and a baked potato for me!

Ugh. I no longer have a source in Georgia. The store bought stuff does not list lard so it is just a jelly donut. Something I need to add to my short list of things I miss from Michigan.

Boss came in w/ a dozen dried shells of paczki. I managed to eat half of one.
I strategically inquired where they were obtained so I could burn the place down. (That's a joke, NSA)

Not sure if you have the internet but this explains it somewhat.

My local grocery bakery has them but since I don't observe Lent, I sneak them into my cart and pretend I do at checkout. I've not been caught yet. And the good ones are worth it.

It's a pastry, similar to a Boston Cream Donut, with a filling like raspberry, lemon strawberry, etc, and frosted on top, usually white or chocolate.

Originally from Poland (or at least mostly made in this country by Polish bakeries), it's a treat served on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday to recognize the beginning of Lent Fasting.

If you can find a Polish bakery or deli in your neighborhood, it's worth trying.

I know from a previous exchange that you and I live fairly close to each other. Where is this bakery?
