I will also say that everything I have bought from Kuiu has been great. High quality but expensive.

https://www.carhartt.com/produ...-full-zip-sweatshirtI like it because it is warm, feels “heavy”, has a full size hood for excellent protection, is coated to repel light precipitation (wash inside out!), and appears to be well made.
It is not advertised as wind-resistant, but because of its construction, it offers a modest amount, and certainly more than what a ‘plain’ sweatshirt does.
It does not have any inside pockets however, if that is a feature you would like to have.
ETA - This newer version does have inside pockets.

I’ve been using versions of this for years. If I had to grab one jacket and go this would be it. Warm, breathable, drizzle and wind resistant, soft fabric not fleece, fairly tough. It is two layers. The inner layer is a thin, smooth, slightly waffled fabric. It doesn’t try to pull your shirt on and off.

Made oversea's as well. As is Carhartt.

SHOOTIN BLANKSI like Carhartt's Rain Defender series. It has a water repellent treatment. But I also like the length. Just a little longer than most so if you wanted to conceal your belt line for some reason.

tatortoddPara - a few years ago I was in the market for a hoodie as my Carharrt hoodie was a carryover from my Alaska days and too thick for Texas. I was looking for something that was light and would just take the nip out of the air.
I ended up purchasing
Joe's USA Men's Full Zipper Hoodies. It's soft fleece, 7.8 oz 50/50 cotton poly so doesn't shrink, and YKK metal zipper (i.e. good quality). It's held up well and the dye has barely faded after washing it for a few years.
If you're looking for Made in USA their
USA-Made line-up has a pricier zipper hoodie and is heavier material (i.e. 13 oz, 80/20 cotton/poly).

fischtown7Amazon essentials Full Zip Fleece Hoodie $16.40. Mine have held up really well and I am rough on clothes.

whanson_wiI have a basic Carhartt # 100072 fleece, but found that it really does not help with wind. If you go Carhartt, go with a different style.
It is *absolutely* warm enough if you have a windbreaker over it, but that's probably not the convenience level most people would want.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

sig2392I went to the Carhartt store.
I ended up with a Carhartt Men's Rain Defender Relaxed Fit.
It sheds some rain, but it isn't as windproof as I expected.
It is really comfortable under a rain shell.
It fits like an X-large usually does.

jed7s9bIf you can get over the sticker shock and you want an athletic fit and soft shell type fabric the Outdoor Research Ultima is nice. It doesn’t have the hoodie look. Light rain and mild wind resistant. A few months ago I got one on the clearance rack at REI for half off. That’s still pricy but I really like it.

Sevenplusone. How Do these run for size?
I am a tweener between Lg and XL.
I got a few "large" T-shirts of theirs, they're perfect for me, I'm more of a mediumish/large usually. Just ordered some fleece bottoms in large from them, they have yet to arrive though. I'd say it depends on how you want it to fit.

daveaI'm a big fan of origin products. 100% American made. I;ve owned arborwear in the past. Just my 2 cents

r0gueI was very pleased with the quality of an H&M zippered hoodie that I bought last year. Medium to heavy weight cotton. The price was pretty darned low for what it is.
They have several online, so I can't swear as to which mine was. But I think it was this one, but in the colors that they offered at the time.

PatenWhichever brand you choose, I'm down for the Sigforum branded hoodie. I'll need the extra fat size.

I cannot agree more. I got addicted or Origin a few years ago. Jeans, hoodies, belts, boots, henleys, t-shirts. I have zero complaints and the quality is top notch. Some of their stuff is pricey but they run sales pretty often. They also have an annual clearance in NC that I have been to twice and picked up a bunch of stuff.
Besides the excellent quality, it is all made in the USA of all USA parts!

barleyBeen pretty satisfied with the Ranger Hoodie from Triple Aught Design. Ran across this when I was searching for a hoodie with a bottom zipper. Saw some of the features that made sense, and the hunter’s pouch was a plus as well.
https://tripleaughtdesign.com/.../ranger-hoodie-lt-seTheir About page has their information on being built in the USA.

I was gonna recommend Carhartt, but this Origin looks like an all around winner!
^^^^^^^^Agreed, USA made and lots of satisfied customers. My only reservation is ordering a Lg or XL?
There is a find my size option that might help.

Have worn the Carhartt thermal lined hoodies for years layering under a winter coat, or as standalones. They work great. They run big. Hard to beat, imo.
