Music's over turn out the lights |
Parents, the wife, the kid and I were in front yard and we look over towards my parent's house and we see a line of skunks moving down the driveway. We have chickens and I know skunks kill chickens so these guys had to go. I run inside grab my Mossberg Shockwave already loaded with No.4 buckshot and the wife drives the Kawasaki mule, I felt like we were Bonnie and Clyde. If anyone was wondering what No.4 buckshot does to baby skunks well, it basically evaporates them. I got all 6 including the mom without getting sprayed. Mossberg Shockwave was nice and handy, I will be getting a brace just to be able to make more precise shots for future critters both 4 legged and 2. David W. I think skunks die easily, dispatched several with a single .22lr hit to the body. It helps that they're slow-moving. I never got sprayed. The only time I used a shotgun was when a skunk was far enough away that I didn't think I could hit it with the .22. I never had the chance to engage multiple targets, though. A shotgun would seem an acceptable substitute if you don't have access to anything belt-fed. -------------------------- Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. -- H L Mencken I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. -- JALLEN 10/18/18

I can understand wanting a brace but how does holding one in each hand make shots more precise. OH, how do you work the actions?

I never knew skunks were chicken killers. That's too bad.
