Our girl Maya went home to be with her “sister” Sadie today. She’d been declining over the last month or so, but a visit to the vet yesterday confirmed that her body was starting to shut down. While it’s always hard, it’s somewhat easier when you get to do it on your terms, and before her quality of life started to suffer. That said I was her person, so it hit me extremely hard. She’d just turned 14 back in November; we’d had her since she was a puppy. All in all our family was pretty lucky that we had as much time as we did.

I’ll miss you baby girl, but you’re no longer in pain and running with all those that have gone before you.

Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.

Complacency sucks…

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

Sorry brother. Another broken heart. But as you said, did not want her to suffer.

They are so, so special. It is impossible to quantify.

She is a beautiful girl.

I'm sorry for your loss SigM4. I, and most everyone here, knows how hard it is to loose your friend Maya. Knowing that she lived a nice long dog life does help a little.

Just a beautiful picture. You could see that your dog didn’t have much time left but the pure joy and calm he got to share with you in the end is amazing.

Sorry for your loss.
