Some of you might remember when I got a rescue fur ball for my son and posted these photos.

Last July we had to let our beloved Penny cross the rainbow bridge. This is the last photo I have of her taken in April 2020.

She was such a good dog and so ingrained herself in our lives that I thought we might never want another dog. For my kids they were over that sentiment within a month or so, and they began to lobby for a new puppy. In the weeks leading up to Christmas they just KNEW that they were getting a new puppy for Christmas... they were mistaken. Christmas Day came and went with no new puppy. Then... the stars aligned and I had the opportunity to rescue TWO way too young chocolate lab pups. We picked them up on New Years Day.

My daughter named the male pup that she chose Cocoa.

My son named the female pup that he chose Mocha.

This was taken last Saturday after I took the pups to my son's soccer game and all of the kids on the sidelines wore their little butts out... LOL.

Here are some videos of them, the first of which is hilarious to me (even my daughter finds it funny now).

Here they are at about 6 weeks old...

... and this one was taken about a week later.

C&M are beautiful pups - Congrats! I'm sure you miss Penny a ton. My Penny, a Golden, passed a decade ago and it still hurts albeit less with our new pup (now 7.5 years old).

A home with a dog (or dogs) gives off a special warmth, wherever you may be.

Such cute additions to your pack. They really do become part of the family...and don't get to stay near as long as we'd like. Congrats on the new pups.

They grow up too quick, except when you're getting them past the chewing and housebreaking age.

Really nice dogs. As a child I only once had a pet dog, and it wasn't for long--we moved from the state and it was left behind (I don't know what happened to it). My dad was a bird hunter and we often had a hunting dog in the back yard, but it wasn't a pet.

Thanks y'all. They sure are a handful, but worth it. Our home has way more laughter and energy than it did without a dog.
