Fantastic way to start day 3! Again, thank you all for letting me organize this and for helping Para. As for updates, the $30000 drawdown is still under review by PayPal so I drew down $5000 and it went through immediately — I will send Para a cashier’s check tomorrow for $5000 and another for $30000 as soon as it clears review and posts. Moving forward, I’ll do the drawdown amounts at each net $5000 (and again, keeping it at whole numbers so that I can track the transfers more easily). Like the ammo group buy, you all have made it very easy for me to run and track so thank you for supporting the campaign.

Keep ’em coming, folks. Most of us here realize what a jewel this place is, and that is and always has been due to the efforts of one man.

Done yesterday.

I hadn't opened the lounge in several days and startled at what I missed. A learning experience to always check everything in Sigforum.

Perhaps a cross link to other Sigforum forums would be in order.

Appreciate everyone pushing through, especially with extra steps like notifying card companies. Means a lot! We’re now past the $40k point and still have some momentum going, really awesome to see the rally together. Thanks again!

Rob had suggested this early on, and he wondered, too, why I am being so quiet.

I reminded him of what I told him when he offered to do this for me- I didn't want to ask for help, and as far as creating shortcuts to this thread in other sections of the forum- it just struck me as unseemly to cheer-lead my own fundraiser. Having said that, I'll make this thread more conspicuous, but I know most of you understand my reluctance. I just wanted all of you to know why I've been quiet. On top of that, I don't think I can adequately express my gratitude. I figured members would step up, but, really, I had no idea of how very generous you would be. No idea. A great weight has been lifted from me; that is no exaggeration. I am ever so grateful.

I've learned something else, too- all the members who don't post or rarely post- I knew they were there, but I've always considered these to be what might be described as casual members- people who like the forum, but could take it or leave it. Well, I'm certain we have members and non-members who are board readers only, who have that attitude towards the forum, but there are a lot of you who are ever-silent, who I now see much more clearly as valuing this forum quite a lot, and to those people, too, I say thank you.

Not infrequently, members will say to me "Para, I don't know how you put up with some of this stuff." The thing I would always say to those members is that somebody has to do it, and I have particular ideas of how to go about these things, so it might as well be me. Now, though, after this, I can add this: All of it- every last bit of it- every contentious exchange, every aspersion cast against me, both here and elsewhere- all of the dealing with nonsense, all of the arbitrating of disputes, keeping the rudder straight- all of it has been absolutely worth it and if need be, I'd go back two decades and do all of it again. Thank you. Most humbly, thank you. Smile

Para, I think all of us would be reluctant to except this help in the same way as you. But, that is exactly why we don't mind stepping up to help. Short and sweet.

I rarely post, but I read, almost daily. This is really the only forum to belong to. Para, you are so deserving of every penny. The time and skill you generously donate to moderating and keeping it fun.
This place is so much more informative than any subscription I could ever purchase. The opinions and the humor always keep me coming back. Along with the incredible knowledge members are so willing to share.
I would gladly donate annually. Be healthy and happy. Even the ones that don’t post appreciate you.

Well...not everyone "does it." but you do, and, I think this whole effort has shown that many of us appreciate it.

I am delighted to have had the privilege of participating, and would be even more honored if it were to be made an annual event to help defray the burden of maintaining/parenting the best place on the Internet.

I think it's admirable that Parabellum wants to let this effort be unaffected by him and I understand his not wanting to ask. There is edification in receiving when there is need, but also when moved to give. There have been times when someone wanted to give to me and/or my family and I was reluctant. But I understand people need to be edified by their service to others. That is why I am grateful Parabellum allowed this to proceed. I think we can all see that the edification is forum wide. It's not just Parabellum, it's not just us. It's all of us. Thank you again for letting this happen.
