God and a soldier all people adore
in time of war, but not before.
And, when the war is over and all things are righted,
God is ignored and an old soldier slighted.

REMEMBER OUR VETERANS

My deepest respect for all who have served.

It doesn’t matter if they were drafted or volunteered. Served on the front line or stacked shit on a shingle in the rear. It doesn’t matter if they served during peace time or war, what race or sex they are.

It doesn’t matter if they were in the Army or the Air Force or the Marines or the Navy or the National Guard or the Coast Guard.

What does matter is that when called to do so, they were ready to protect the people of this, and any other country. At any given moment in time, no matter the duty they were assigned to; they all faced the possibility of having to make the ultimate sacrifice for people around the world to live in freedom.

To all the Veterans out there: thank you.

The Plan Of The Day for SWMBO and me includes meeting benny6 at Sonny's BBQ for lunch. They are offering a free meal for Veterans.

Happy Veterans Day to all my fellow Vets out there

In Flanders field, the poppies blow,
between the crosses row on row.
On Veterans Day, I always think of how a handful of patriots faced a superpower at the Old North Bridge and ultimately prevailed. And the blood and sacrifice required to keep us free since then.
To all who have served, Happy Veterans Day!

Blue skies and fair tailwinds to my brothers and sisters in arms today, and to those who served. One of the lesser-known or used quotes from Thomas Paine's article in his pamphlet The American Crisis No. 1, published the 19th of December, 1776:

"What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value."

"...I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same..." Thanks to all of you who paid that pledge in lives, or fortunes, or sacred honor....

To all our Sig Forum veterans and the overall veteran community of our great country, all our thanks and respect.
