I’m looking for square/rectangular plastic boxes for screws and other hardware. I already have plenty of the multiple bin storage boxes with lids. Basically I’m looking to replace the cardboard box that screws and nails come in. So I can just grab one or two boxes and take them to where I’m working. Cardboard boxes fall apart, and after a while you have so many different boxes it’s hard to just look and grab what you need quickly. What do you use?

When I read the title of this thread, I wondered, "What does he have against storage?"

Plano brand plus those big square rice containers with the 5 or so inch round screw top lids for larger or more bulky stuff.
Reference to the rice containers I would have thrown away anyway: Link
Those tall UTZ snack mix containers can be useful as well.
Tackle boxes are a good way to carry several boxes at once. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 83v45magna,

I’ll add that I’m trying to keep this relatively cheap so I’m probably looking for boxes that are designed for other purposes. I’m not looking to spend $200 on made for custom designed stuff so I can have a pretty shelf. Just functional boxes that don’t get destroyed like the factory cardboard box.

Perhaps I can raid the wife’s ziplock or whatever microwaveable food containers. They might be sturdy enough.

These look reasonable for size and price. Search for Hushee Screw Organizers and Storage Bins on Amazon. They are a covered four hole organizer that come in blue or red. Four containers with four compartments are about $22. Also saw six black ones for $29.
They come in red, blue and black with see through lids. For some reason I cannot post the link but the description should be good.

How big a container are you looking for?

Looking at the Hushee page, I noticed these down below. Actaully show drywall screws in one.

When my brother in law went to the Nursing Home , I inherited his bucket organizers . Five gallon buckets with inserts that have dividers . They stack on top of each other. https://www.amazon.com/Bucket-...ps%2C141&sr=8-3&th=1

I save the containers that these come in.
I know it's not just the empty container that can be bought, but I'm sure there is something similar out that that can be purchased on it's own.

I use peanut butter jars (the teenager goes thru them) then I toss those in a milk crate. Easy storage on the shelving in the garage. I know which one has the screws and just grab it off any screw issues. Also use a similar product like these https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobal...Organizer/5013311665

These might work. You can even get racks to mount them on. They also come in different sizes.

I think I’m just going to buy empty cardboard boxes. I can tape them ahead of time, they will all be the same size, and I can label them so they are easily identified. They are cheap also. 5x3x2 boxes are 58¢ each.
