I know voting is supposed to be a right. And progressives aside, I’m okay with a multi-party system with ideological and priority differences.

But the next time around a constitution gets written, there needs to be prerequisites of intelligence and sanity for candidates and voters. I can’t see how the system will survive as intended without it.

That Hawaii elected Mazie instead makes Hawaii, electorally speaking, one of the stupidest states in the country.

Village culture is strong there. Rumors, innuendo and stereotypes prevail over reason in that part of the world. I was always amazed when waiting in line at the market, over-hearing the amount of stupidity that was discussed. Not surprise there's some that are advocates for seceding from the US and a return of the Hawaiian monarchy.

When you have people elected to Congress whose breadth of legal knowledge is a collection of talking points, this is what you get.

And Hell is where we’re headed.

What’s insane is that ICE officials have to sit at a table and testify in front of morons like this.

"I'm confused". - Confused isn't the correct word for it! Good Lord.

Firmly believe that property ownership is the best system when it comes to voting, otherwise it is a give-me, give-me and I-will-vote-for-you that we have today.

I also believe that it would weed out a lot of thought-processing challenged individuals from the government.

U.S. Voting Rights Timeline: https://a.s.kqed.net/pdf/educa...-rights-timeline.pdf

1776 to 1786 is the way to go: Declaration of Independence signed. Right to vote during the Colonial and Revolutionary periods is restricted to property owners — most of whom are white male Protestants over the age of 21.

OK, you can add women to the group, and voting rights were not restricted to "Protestants" so that has no bearing.

I know this will wad up some underwear, but it worked! Big Grin

This lady seems the intellectual equal of Hank Johnson, here. Seems that's the parallel being drawn, at least how I read it, not Hawaii=Guam. Wink

Or there's a third option. They know the law, and they just don't care about anything but pandering to the base of the "Hate Trump" crowd of miscreants.

I think this is it. The difference between the civil and criminal component is a little confusing, although these are legislators, and most of them are lawyers, so they shouldn't be too confusing. If you are confused, and you are a congressman, then you have the wrong job.

But they don't care. It isn't the niceties of the nature of the legal process that they are concerned about. They just want to let these people in, mostly for political gain.

So stupid. So sad.

Either these people are playing it up for their moronic minions who actually believe Trump is the cause of this or they are so pathetically stupid they forget that THEY, as members of Congress or the senate, voted for and passed these laws!!!

Yeah, and when confronted afterwards, ol' Hank said "Oh, I was just joking."

Yeah, the fuck you were, Hank. You actually believed (and for all I know, still do to this day) that islands are land masses floating on the surface of oceans.

Hell, I wouldn't admit being that stupid, either, Hank.

Can it be in the form of smaller meteorites? Hitting select targets?

You are correct, of course. I had some convoluted sort of thought process that imagined her thinking that Guam would tip over, but not Hawaii. It doesn't translate into anything that makes sense, just sort of mental gibberish.
