Dashcam Video Shows Cop Accidentally Shooting Fellow Officer during ‘Horseplay.'
CNN Newsource staff Published: Jun. 11, 2026 at 3:34 PM CDT|Updated: 5 hours ago (CNN) - A newly released dashcam video shows a police officer accidentally shooting a fellow cop.
The shooting happened inside a Pasadena police parking garage last September, but the video was just released Wednesday.
A patrol car can be seen in the video pulling up behind two officers who were standing by another vehicle.
One of the officers standing outside drew his gun and pointed it at the officer inside the patrol car before putting it back in the holster.
The officer inside the car then drew his gun, and it discharged with a bullet going through the windshield, striking one of the standing officers in the shoulder.
Pasadena’s police chief said the injured officer has since recovered and disciplinary action was taken in what was described as a “horseplay” incident.

Both of the officers pointing their guns at each other need to be shitcanned. Even the one who was shot.
At the academy where I taught, cadets were not allowed to have their firearms unless we were specifically doing firearms instruction. Instead, they had dummy "blue guns" in their holsters most of the time.
The cadets were repeatedly instructed from Day 1 that they were to treat the blue guns as if they were real guns, including following all the firearms safety rules, and horseplay involving blue guns would be treated seriously.
Despite that, every several classes there would be some dumbass get caught twirling their blue gun around their finger, or taking selfies with it held to their head during a break, or reenacting some movie scene involving a pointed gun, or playing "quick draw" with their buddy, etc. Always resulting in discipline, and often resulting in removal from the academy. If we can't trust you with a piece of plastic, why would we trust you with a real gun.
But at least they were weeded out before they could do something even more boneheaded with live guns, like the dumbasses in this video.

Agreed. And criminally charged. Pointing a loaded firearm at someone is a felony in this state. There's an exception for cops acting within their official duties, but there's nothing official about what those two morons were doing. Maybe their defense attorney can argue that they're "officially retarded" .

I worked with a dude who carried a Browning High Power as an off duty weapon. Every night, in the locker room, he unloaded it by racking the slide until empty. Scared the shit out of me! I drove into the parking lot of the station one night to find a fully loaded 14 inch 870 lying in the lot. It had laid there most of the night. Our SWAT unit ordered 7 HK MP5 Navy models. They were delivered on a Friday afternoon. I was off duty and not present to take charge of them. Dispatch signed for the delivery, and then left the guns sitting in the station lobby. You know, the main point of contact for the public who walk into the station to conduct business? The guns sat there all weekend! I had some business with the city offices upstairs on Monday and afterward my route to my office passed through the lobby. I nearly had a stroke when I saw the MP5s (with HK Logos on the boxes) neatly stacked in the lobby. Just 3 incidents involving Cops and guns. When it comes to Cops and guns, don't be surprised by anything that goes on!

For clarity sake, out of the 5 US states with a city named Pasadena this is the one in CA (i.e. wealthy high end area in Los Angeles). I checked as there is a city in the Houston metropolitan area named Pasadena.

I was curious about that, but didn't have time to look deeper at the time.

And here it’s been 10 months and no charges no firings and this leaves serious problems for prosecutors everywhere.
Defense lawyer.. Well that gun pointed at xyz and accidentally went off was just horseplay. My client didn’t mean to kill the wife/convenience store clerk/coworker.. Just horseplay ya see. Exhibit A) “highly trained” law enforcement officers in this police department did same thing and nobody cared.

Shit like this is precisely why I have such a hard time believing that the gun is the problem and not the user...
Call me a hard ass but I think that all 3 officers should have been fired WITH Prejudice. If you are willing to engage in or even tolerate this kind of behavior you do NOT belong in Law Enforcement.
I've stopped counting.
