Every once in a while I get an email phishing scam, but I have gotten three in the last few days and they were pretty good. 1. My wife’s computer had a Microsoft Edge browser page open up with a red warning screen and a recorded message saying her information had been compromised and to call the number listed or click on the link for tech support. This is a scam and I am glad she did not fall for it and came to me. 2. I got a email from Apple that looked exactly like an email you get to confirm your purchase of an app. It said it was for an annual membership to some music service app I do not use and the device was none of mine on my account. It said you had 24 hours to contest the purchase if it was not you and gave the link. I logged into my account through the web and verified no purchase was actually made on my account. 3. Today I got a very real looking email saying it was from PayPal and there was suspicious activity on my account. It gave a link to see the suspicious activity and was obviously a scam. Anyone else seeing an increase in phishing scam emails lately? I wonder if it is because it is tax time and some people may have extra money in their accounts. NRA Benefactor Life Member

Nothing more than usual. Actually, have seen less. Maybe it's because they went directly to the SPAM folder. Q

Yea, those calls about the IRS about to get you, call us and we'll fix it for you are up big time too. -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.-. --.- -.-. --.- It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master. We get those Apple phising mails almost on a daily basis. Some are in spanish, others in english. They share one thing in common, they're always poorly written and that gives them away IF you don't panic and take the time to read all of them, including the small print. Another dead giveaway is the return addy, normally something not related to the mother company. One wonders about these lazy professional scammers, have they ever heard of quality control? Teach your wife these pointers, will spare you some worries and indignation. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

You are spot on about most being poorly written. These ones lately were very well done and well written. A mistake they made on the PayPal was saying the suspicious activity took place at 5:35pm on 3/8 yet the email was sent at 10:53am on 3/8. I follow the rule, and have always told my wife as well, you NEVER click on the link in an email if it is a website you have an account with telling you to log in. You open your browser and go log in that way. Plus to never open any attachments unless you absolutely know who it came from and it is something you are expecting. NRA Benefactor Life Member
