Yeah, I was sorry to read this. He started Country Rock before there was such a thing with the First National Band. Both the band and record label folded just before the Eagles hit with “Take It Easy,” then The Byrds, Sweetheart of the Rodeo and the Flying Burrito Brothers.
He was a good song writer. He gave “Different Drum” to Linda Ronstadt and she had a hit with it. I have an album of his, Pretty Much Your Standard Ranch Stash, and it’s got “Some of Shelly’s Blues” on it.

RIP Mike Nesmith, thanks for the fun and the music. He had a fine niche solo career.

RIP. I was just watching some recent vids of him the other day, he wasn't looking all that great but this is a surprise.

Was rocking out to a few Monkees clips just around Thanksgiving on YouTube. As TMats mentioned, his songwriting talents helped a young Linda Ronstadt in her career. To this day, "Different Drum" is still my #1 fave Linda Ronstadt hit. RIP Mike.

Looked at some today after I heard about his passing. He sang Joanne, and still had pretty good range.

Just recently, I had read the Wiki pages on all the Monkees lives.
As a kid, I didn't care watching them, that at first they weren't actually playing. At that time frame, it was just darn cool to have a TV show like that.
Rest in Peace, Mike.

Wife and I had tickets to go see them live, just last month. They required a vax card or negative virus test the day of the show. I asked for a ticket refund and was surprised when the venue said OK and gave me my $400 back.
It would have been nice to see them play as I have fond memories of their TV show.

He was my favorite of the group. Though he often seemed like he didn't want to be there.
My favorite Monkee's song. (written by Michael Martin Murphey and "Boomer" Castleman)

My favorite Monkee as a kid because he just seemed the leader and the coolest. He was also the heir to his mother’s Liquid Paper fortune, which is a fascinating story of entrepreneurial genius in itself. RIP.

Never noticed he directed that, though it wasn’t quite a theatrical masterpiece that I would’ve looked to see who did. lol
