wishing we were congress |
https://townhall.com/tipsheet/...bcat-attack-n2588079 Video footage shows the man putting his coffee tumbler on the front of his car, when he noticed it needs to be washed. Then, his wife walks out carrying a pet case with their cat inside. You can hear the bobcat attack her before she starts screaming for help. He rushed over, ripped off the bobcat, held it up like Simba from the Lion King and hurled it across the lawn. He then took out his pistol and followed it before it could attack somebody else. Both were bitten multiple times by the animal and have been given more than 30 rabies shots. That couple is Happy and Kristi Wade. Kristi says she knew something was wrong as soon as she heard a growl in the driveway. “When it came around the car and it made eye contact with me, I knew immediately I was in trouble,” Kristi said. “It first attacked my hand that I held behind me to try to fend it off, and then I felt it crawl up my back,” she said. Hearing his wife’s screams, Happy jumped into action as the wild animal tried to bite Kristi’s neck. “I kind of shoved my arm in there, that’s why I ended up with it face-to-face,” Happy said. “It’s not really until I get it a few steps away that I look at it and I realize it’s a bobcat and I say oh my god it’s a bobcat.” “The third time it bit me I could actually feel the tooth on my bone because there’s no skin there,” he said. “And that’s when I realized and that’s when I flung it.” Instead of running away into the woods, the animal ran back toward the house and into the garage. Happy says he could tell something was wrong. “I knew because of the way it acted that this is not normal behavior for a bobcat,” he said. “Only a bobcat that was rabid would do this.” As neighbors called 911, Happy made the decision to shoot the rabid animal. The Wades are concealed carry permit holders. “At one point it kind of made a charge again and I was able to shoot it in the shoulder.” partial video of the event at link

Read that earlier today. Given where I live (small rural town) and our lake place borders the Superior National forest I carry more for protection from wild animals than I do the two legged variety. I've had close surprise encounters with bears and coyotes. And have had wolves travel nearby regularly. Every time it wound up with us both being scared out of our wits for a moment but the animal always choose to run away. But the thought of coming across a rabid one has crossed my mind. Also it's nice to be able to dispatch a animal if it's suffering. Have done this with a deer that had been hit by the car in front of me but didn't die from impact. Can't stand to watch a animal suffer. "Fixed fortifications are monuments to mans stupidity" - George S. Patton

I shared this back in 2019. I spotted a Bobcat just outside the backdoor of my building. Beautiful animal. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

I have seen many bobcats while mountain biking. They have been extremely relaxed, almost friendly. If I did not get too close, say more than 30 yards, they just sit and look for mice, etc. Beautiful animals. -c1steve

It's all part of the adventure... |
Living in Tucson, we see bobcats on occasion. In our last home, we had one in the backyard once or twice. I used to sit in the front yard on a porch swing smoking a cigar and would see a bobcat across the cul-de-sac. He would look at me, then saunter off as if to say “What are you gonna do?” We also had coyotes and javelina in the cul-de-sac. We have a pretty good population of bobcats in these parts. I mostly catch them on my game cam but will occasionally see one when I am in the back on my side by side. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

Around here if they see you first, you won't likely see them. Then again, I'd wager a higher percentage get shot around here, so maybe a correlation? ________________________________________________ "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. I’ve seen some pretty big bobcats around my area. My father had a regular for at least 5 years that shocked me last time I saw him walk across the yard late at night. He was so large I thought it was a coyote or dog. Nehemiah he walked up to the light pole and sat underneath looking up at the bugs and bats. I’d hate to have that thing climb up my wife or daughters.

https://imgur.com/a/qEpe0Mc https://imgur.com/a/0XG20ZK We had a pair that have been hanging out by my knife shop at the property we just sold. Beautiful animals, it seems to me the woman in the video was carrying a pet carrier, I wonder if that had anything to do with it? I would hesitate grabbing a pissed off Bobcat, but for my Wife, I’d rather “shoot the Fucke#”,but only if attacked. I bet the pair on our old property has had a litter by now or soon.

Pretty wild. I think since I had ahold of it I would have done a pile driver onto the driveway instead of tossing it out in the grass. Hoping to kill it but at least stun it making it an easier target to shoot. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have.
