Wife and I both have CPAPs. Of the two of us, she is definitely the most germ-aware (I take the "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger" approach).

Are they necesary? Are they beneficial? Or, are they mainly for the germaphobe "hand sanitizer every 2 minutes" crowd?....

I dont have one, but my mother likes hers? anyways she cleans the mask like once every two days that I know of, if not every day. But not like a deep soaking in antiseptic, but like a few runs under the water

Love it! Big Grin

My wife uses a CPAP - I'm curious to see the responses to your inquiry.

Just read the previous thread. So the so clean does or does not work on cpap with heated hose? I use one with a heated hose and humidifier, with the nasal pillars. How many (if any) add on adapters would that require?

I might be willing to look into one after the winter I've had with recurrent sinusitis...

I asked my Doctor about them and he was unimpressed. Just said "clean it per instructions and you don't need it".

I do not know for sure but, downtownmv can help you with that question in about 5 seconds. I believe he said there were adapters available.

If you are getting Upper respiratory’s you are a candidate for one. Otherwise don’t waste your $$$
I have 2 units. The SoClean and the VirtuClean
The virtuclean, cleans the mask & tube in one application (Masks usually do not need this, simply wash with some mild dish detergent and dry) and tube/machine in another application (these are your bacteria spots Tube and the unit). It needs no adaptors, is very small for travel. $269
The so clean is a stationary tabletop unit, that cleans the mask tube and machine all at once. (SOME units require an adaptor +$) $289.
These prices include shipping.

Hope this helps...

I bought these CPAP mask wipes. It look like baby wipes. It was $9 and will last almost 3 months. They are only used around the rubber seal of my mask to get oil residue off. They do not contain a disinfectant.

I bought the Virtuclean Portable unit about two months ago from Downtownv. All I can say is buy one.
The unit is thicker than a smartphone but smaller in every other demension.Plug it in and it runs for about twenty minutes and it's done.
Several models are avaliable I got the travel version And can't be happier. Downtownv is a pleasure to deal with and has the best prices.

Downtownv, can you 'splain to me the difference between the SoClean and the SoClean 2?

Also, how does the VirtuClean work, same concept as the SoClean? Which do you recommend and why? Thanks in advance.

There is only one unit that they make.
https://www.soclean.com

The SoClean had some mods a few years ago and somewhere was the "SoClean2" was coined...

I never had a returned unit of either unit form either company.
BUT again, UNLESS you are experiencing Upper respiratory problems DON'T waste your $$$
If you are then you need this NOW.

Also many CPAP users like to keep their old tubing....THROW THEM OUT!

Here's a good link/guideline:
http://www.soundoxygen.com/res...place-cpap-supplies/

Also, how does the VirtuClean work, same concept as the SoClean? Which do you recommend and why?

They operate identically o3 (ozone)
the Virtuclean like many electronics, was made SMALL and very portable, so if you travel it's easy to take with you.
The Company does make many high end products (Which I hope you NEVER need) But one is something to consider the HST https://www.virtuox.net/Services/HomeSleepTesting

while SoClean does only one thing.

BTW, many machines need an adaptor for the SoClean (about $25) the virtue clean does not!

The answer is negative, the batteries (VirtuClean) are NOT Replaceable.

I did as well and it has worked wonders. I used to get pleuresy regularly, but haven't since I started using the Virtuclean.

Yes, Downtownv is great to work with.
