Will this never end?

More than 600 people got sick after eating at one Chipotle. Health officials don't know why yet.

Stores can implement the strongest food safety polices in the industry, but when lettuce comes to the store tainted...you're doomed. And I can tell you from experience that the limited amount of 'washing' restaurants do to their pre-bagged lettuce is scary at best.

While I think Chipotle is disgusting for other reasons, these reports drive me crazy. Veggies from damn near all sources are constantly contaminated, and there is likely not a damn thing these restaurants can do about it. They get it from their suppliers, and it's out the door long before they can even discover there is a problem. This is even more true with vegetables and restaurants like Chipotle that emphasize fresh, clean food as a part of their business model.

I hate that people got sick, suing a restaurant that isn't responsible just fucks things up for the rest of us.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

This is why fried food is healthy. It is healthy because it is definitively dead.

If you go to a fast food place, eat what makes them famous; grilled, fried, frozen, pickled, canned, jarred, processed, salted "food".

That fresh shit is risky.

"I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation."

Isn't it the restaurant that is ultimately responsible since they are the ones who took delivery of tainted food that they then decided to serve? No quality control or food safety measures in their business model?

Grocery stores carry fresh produce all the time but the likelihood of getting bad fruits/veggies is statistically small compared to Shitpotle. Why? There are some pretty high standards being met all throughout their handling process, that's why. The sole exception are the bagged salads and they are pretty easily traced back to their contamination source. Just seems that some companies would rather kill their customers than pay a little more for safe food!

Our local Food Court recently got shuttered for a couple days after 300 plus people got sick.

Why I try with all my might to rarely eat out of my own kitchen. Fast food is awful.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

You know how there's all this multilingual signage everywhere these days? The "employees must wash hands" signs only seem to be in English.
