A place I worked in had what was called a "burster." Had to wear a breathing mask and ear protection when you used it. You could throw in 2 reams at a time and it would turn them into dust.

Years ago I was stationed at APG and the best part of being there was they burned EVERYTHING (well that and the cool tests we did) Dry sweep, papers, oily rags, whatever. It got burned every day. I used to bring my trash in and toss it in the dumpster. It all got incinerated. Nothing left "behind the fence" intact.

I've gotten lazy but I need to start up again.

The proper disposition of documents is cross cut shredder, burn the shredded material, and stir the ashes. Anything else can be reconstructed.

I do use a strip shredder at home as well as a cross cut, but burn and stir.

Nothing goes in the trash with an address or name on it.
