Hill country is between Austin and San Antonio but more west, more or less. It is hilly and scrubby. Lots of mesquite and cedar. Hot in the summer and mild winters. Drier than the Gulf Coast, and has been in a prolonged drought. There are some expensive places to live, and some not so expensive. Some hippy enclaves, some retirees. A very different vibe than West Texas. It is pretty there, especially in spring when the flowers bloom. Good barbecue. German immigrant influence.

Apples and Oranges comparing Texas Hill Country and Abilene. For example, the word affordable is never mentioned alongside the phrase Texas Hill Country.
