I'm not sure which iOS update it showed up in, but with the latest iOS versions there is a new toggle (separate from "Do Not Disturb) that silences calls if they are not in your contacts and sends them directly to voice mail. Look under Settings/Phone. When in doubt, mumble

My phone gets turned off when I go to bed which is about midnight or so. I have it with me at work so customers and sales people can get ahold of me but that's it. When I go out, it's usually left in the glove box while I see a band or watch football. I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

If congress “fixes” this, you bet your sweet patootie they will continue to permit spam political calls and texts, which are my big bugaboo. Any time you donate to anybody, you get on the big spam list and it never ends. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

if I do not use my cell phone for three days, I do not get any robo calls, If I use the cell phone 9 times in a day , I will start getting them . I've had to L.e.o's leave messages for me , it was a hassle because they do not leave their cell phones and I have to call the dispatcher back to tell them to call me again ( p.i.t.a. ) Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Well, I certainly won't argue your point. But there is a very sound economic reason for that quoted part. Even if you "donate" based on the call (and the same holds true for mail solicitations), the contact information is more valuable than the pittance you give. It marks you as a sucker, full of money and willing to give. Confirmed by a scammer who has just taken the person to the cleaners. Its another reason not to ever give donations or the time of day to these folks. A prime example is my poor elderly mother. She'll be 99 in a couple of weeks, and has spent (literally) the last few decades of her life giving to them. She has a calendar collection that she off loads on my wife. Everyone who prints calendars knows her and sends her one, along with a request for a donation. Then they sell her name to the next organization that wants money. Want a fun little task sometime, alter your name or middle initial and send them a dollar. Its like a chain letter, where every week you receive another similar solicitation. I started my sorry career of name changing 50 years ago. We'd go on vacation, armed with cameras, film, and prepaid Kodak mailers. When we'd expose a roll, we'd just drop it in the nearest mailbox. addressed to my home with my name, except my middle initial changed. First one was to "A", next to "B", etc. Then the page on our notepad that contained the location and exposure information had that letter written in. It was a cool idea at the time. But for years afterwards, I'd get mail to my new middle initial. Its just how they harvest more suckers to fund their operation. Unhappy ammo seeker

Not used to stop incoming calls. Used to stop telemarketing people with autodialers from harvesting outgoing phone numbers ID. It seems to work as I get very few telemarketing calls. ********* "Some people are alive today because it's against the law to kill them".

Mine have waned as well since updating my phone with iSO 13.1. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves. -D.H. Lawrence

This won't stop it but it is fun. Your mailbox fills up with junk. save it and when you get a "no postage required if mailed in the US", fill it up with the snail mail spam and let the good time roll. Just wish there was a way for phone calls. Tinyman ______________________________ Stupid people are like glo-sticks. I want to shake the shit out of them till the light comes on

Imagination and focus become reality |
I don't have a middle initial and many years ago I filled out a form somewhere that required an entry for the middle initial. I thought it might have been a form 4473, but then I thought that wasn't it. It could have been a warranty card of some type, S&W comes to mind. Anyway, to this day I receive some mail with my first name, NMN, and my last name. It's really pathetic when someone passes on bad information. Seriously, someone can't figure out that NMN stands for "no middle name"?
