My Yamaha HomeTheater amp is close to 20 YO and while thinking I could move forward to HDMI connectors, I see new features that I am not familiar with. Also, own too many working conditions TVs so a 4k is unlikely to happen. Never even paid for HD cable content, HD is fine for now as it is. So, what is MultiCast and is it a simple to use feature or a forgettable one? Can't imagine the use a wifi capable AV receiver but would like it to have access to a network storage device (movies, mp3). Should I aim for a receiver rhat is 4k friendly or HD (my TVs and Xbox One) is fair enoughfor the next 10 years? 0-0This message has been edited. Depending on your budget check out the Denon 3600h. I have a 2016 4300h 11 channel. I have a Cable box, PS4 and a fire stick 4k for streaming running on a 55 inch 1080p tv. You can even go down to the 2600H. WiFi and ethernet connections. If this is what multicast is? Hopefully someone has a better answer.

I am looking at replacing my slowly failing Onkyo 809, that is near its 9th birthday, with the highly regarded Denon X3600H. It is currently unavailable as the factory is closed due to KungFlu. Read some of the reviews posted about the receiver, they describe Multicast, Atmos and many of the new sound fields available today. Check avsforum.com as well. It contains a wealth of information. I live down in Argentina, where imports are at least twice of the worst price you can get and income is 1/4 of a bum's salary. A $300 unit will cost close to $800 here if you can find it. That's one of the reasons I buy once every 10+ years. My first HT was Yamaha's DSP-1 in 87/88. In 2001 got an A1 (someone else payed 4k for it). Lookingat spending around $300 if I can afford the local price. So, no frequent MultiCast users? 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

Forgive my ignorance but I've never heard of MultiCast. Do you have a link or anything for it?

If you know what Sonos is, MusicCast is almost exactly the same thing, a platform to access Pandora, SiriusXM, Airplay, etc. It is built in to a lot of Yamaha receivers these days and can be accessed via the Yamaha remote using your display for navigating through the menus, or via app on your phone, iPad, etc. I have been using it for years and think it is a great way to access your music. These days any new receiver will likely be 4K compliant and after having worked in residential AV for over 20 years I would wholeheartedly recommend Yamaha receivers. There are plenty of other good brands at the same price, but none as reliable as Yamaha.
