A few years back I had some custom made orthotic shoe inserts made by my podiatrist and they have been absolutely great, they aren't cheap but well worth the money. I think I paid $150 a set WITH insurance so they were probably double that but I'd gladly pay it.

This past Saturday I went to a wedding for my wife's brother and in my haste to get going, I put on my dress shoes I may wear twice a year anymore but forgot the inserts. They had a very thin foam insert and I thought I'd be OK. *thought* being the key word here.

Well, the wedding was at a museum...with hard ass marble floors and stairs and halfway through the night my feet were SCREAMING.

I will never make that mistake again! It's amazing what a molded piece of hard plastic with a little fabric cover can do for your feet!

Does anyone else here use them? I tried the off the shelf semi-rigid ones and they just didn't work for me (Spenco I think) so the custom ones were well worth it. The doc scanned my bare feet with an iPad that had some sort of tool that mapped them out and within a couple weeks I had the inserts that were a perfect fit.

I have a set of custom orthotics that I use in my duty boots and in my running shoes. Without them, my super flat feet cause pain in my arches, ankles, and knees after running or standing for long periods.

But $150 sounds really cheap. I think my last pair of custom orthotics was about $500 with insurance.

Then I use the much cheaper but nearly as good Superfeet Green insoles in my casual shoes. Those seem to be about 80% as good for day-to-day non-strenuous use at about 10% of the price.

+100 on SuperFeet. Mind the colors - they are color coded - it's not just for looks.

I tried an expensive custom insert orthotic - in my case, SuperFeet were not just cheaper but superior. And I can custom select which type (color) to use depending on the shoe (different color / type for dress shoes, hiking shoes, boots, etc).

I've been using the Green SuperFeet Insoles for about 10 years since having a minor bout with Plantar Fasciitis.

I use the Orange Insoles in my Pickleball shoes. They have a bit more cushion.

I also use the Green SuperFeet insoles for daily wear and they work really well in my New Balance shoes.

They work even better in the Boombahs that I wear at shooting matches

I have bad feet and have used orthotics for many years. I first had hard ones and after some foot surgery with a top guy in Chicago, I switched to soft ones.

I just got a new pair last month. I have new ones made every 2 years or so.

I can't walk without them.

I went to the Superfeet website and used their insole finder, and was going to order them online.
I instead went to a local Fleet Feet store to purchase them, and I am very glad I did.

If you have a Fleet Feet store nearby, I recommend going there before you purchase your Superfeet.
They will do a quick 3D scan of your feet. It measures length, width, arch, heel width, etc.
The saleslady showed me the scan, recommended 2 different insoles. She put a sample in each show for me to try.

The scan confirmed my flat arches, but was surprised to learn my right foot is 1/2" shorter and a bit wider than my left!

The 3D scan is very cool and they send you a copy for your records...at least they used to. The sales people were very knowledgeable about the differences of the different models and are good at explaining them.

I was going to get extra pairs on Amazon, but found the prices were the same...and counterfeit ones exist. So for the same money, I'd rather get ones fitted to each pair of shoes

I got my first custom set of orthotics in fourth grade, so about 1982 or so. My last set was made in 2017 or 2018 I think. They still take a "cast" of my feet using the plaster of paris strips. I thought by now they would have a different method, but the podiatrist said the "cast" were still the best way.

Have had many sets over the years. After a few years the foam tends to fall of. My current set are just the hard plastic shells. I need to have the foam put back on.

I use Superfeet also.
I have them in 2 pairs of daily wear Merrells and in my running shoes.
They turn a mediocre hiking shoe into one I can easily do 10 miles a day in the Rocky mountains.
I run 2 miles daily and never have any foot discomfort too.
Hard to believe the difference they make and well worth the money.

Superfeet Greens in my duty boots as well.
I tired the super expensive partially paid by insurance customs and the $50 Superfeet are worlds better.

All my other boots get Ariat insoles for $20 or so.

Wife can't walk 20 feet without custom orthotics in her shoes but they are $500 per pair with ins

My wife has had custom fitted by a foot doc back in 2004 that cost just under $300. Very worn out, so she went back to doc and they "Resurfaced" the old ones for $60. Look like new and she thinks that they are almost like new by feel.

I have Justin boots that felt like the worst that I ever bought. Blue Superfeet insoles to the rescue. I wear mine in all my shoes.

Makes a world of difference! We are fans of insoles!

SuperFeet Green have worked for me but my feet are kind of odd- high arches, wide forefeet, and narrow heels. The SuperFeet helped to resolve a longstanding bout of plantar fasciitis.

I have used these for years and so has my 83 year young father and he walks 3 or 4 miles daily !!! In my opinion these are just as good as my $350 custom made ones. I hope this helps. God Bless !!!

Wear size 14 B and my feet resemble pancakes, with no arch.

There is no question that they will correct years of wear and tear and make your feet feel amazing. The trick is to find a good physician that can get them just right. Most people walk away disappointed. I am glad you hit it right!

Has anybody used The Good Feet Store for orthotics?
We stopped in a couple weeks ago and took their pitch. Their system is a set of 3 orthotic inserts that have a graduated approach to Adjusting to them.
I did feel better while trying them on and walking around.
But they are PRICEY.
Seeing a podiatrist tomorrow and going to ask her about them also. Be ok if insurance would pick up some of the tab.
Been through 2 pairs of custom orthotics in the past and they just didn't seem to hold up in addition to being hard to put in some of my shoes.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

I tried it once years ago. Could be better now.

But they didn't work well for me and, yes, very expensive. Much more satisfied with the function an price of Superfeet - just need to find the right model for your feet. YMMV.
