It's the new year, and 2 threads just smacked me right in the face to remind me to never go OT in any threads that ask specific questions.

Need super quiet hair clippers to prank mouthy teen....

Hiring/Firing a christian evangelical...

I used to go OT quite often, answering/saying stuff that were not even part of the original topic. This (last) year, I've been better at not doing it, but I'm pretty sure I let one or two slip by at times. But man, these two threads just reminded me to answer the question(s) asked and not going on a tangent.

Another resolution is that I will continue to call out the commie maggots and the RINO cowards whoever and wherever they are. Big Grin

What's your New Year's Resolution?

No resolutions as I can never stick to them.

To shoot all the guns I've acquired and/or built during the various lockdowns and ammo shortages.

I've gotten through 10 or so in the past week. Lost count of how many are left.

Going rate for range ammo (I believe it is reloaded brass) is about $20 a box of 50. Midwestern Red Box. It sucks but better than nothing I guess.

Highlights:

* Scorpion with Timney Trigger and factory folder with Tailhook - great trigger, but the factory irons suck with my progressive lenses so I need to get a red dot for it.
* P238 Legion - surprisingly reliable accurate and easy to shoot.
* Shadow Systems MR920 with Trijicon RMR - factory recommended 200 round break-in completed - couple malfunctions with the range ammo - need to test with better ammo - maybe Glock mags instead of the Magpuls that came with it?
* M17 Bravo with Holosun 507C-X2 in Bobro mount - 100% reliable and a great shooter
* P365XL with Holosun 507K-X2 - several FTRTB in first 50 rounds which is a known issue - need to keep breaking it in
* G44 - couple hundred rounds of CCI MiniMags with lots of stovepipes and other jams. Disappointing. But it is a great trainer because the ultralight weight makes recoil more like a centerfire pistol and the jams help with malfunction drills.
* 10/22 Takedown Backpacker with Franklin Armory Binary Trigger and AT3 red dot. Lot of fun doing 2 round bursts. Didn't try to sustain 4 or 6 round bursts to avoid attention. Got another Franklin trigger for the new Charger that is going to go into a chassis with folding brace.

I have to say that slide mounted red dots make a huge difference when you are close to 50 years hold and you need progressive lenses. The people in the lane next to me are all over the paper and the R.O. told me he could see I was putting rounds right on top of each other. Whether or not they are faster in competition shooting I can't say, but I'm pretty sold on them for general use as I get older.

To get back on track with my Weight Watchers program. The past year between moving homes, moving offices, and COVID-19, I stopped tracking all my food (points) in the WW app, and of course the weekly meetings were nixed. I was down 100 lbs in NOV 2019, and by NOV 2020 I had put about 25 back on. I haven’t weighed myself in probably 3 weeks, either. I wasn’t too careful over the Christmas and New Year holiday break either. So, I just need to get back on track. I gave away several pair of larger pants that I DO NOT want to buy again. Roll Eyes

Went a 10 day stretch over Christmas without a drop of alcohol. Felt pretty good, and felt good about it. Had a bottle of wine with my wife on NYE, and a few pale ales again last night. Slept like crap, and feel achy and generally not so good.

My test results of this little experiment are clear enough.

I resolved to abstain from alcohol throughout January. Now in third day. Feel absolutely no difference so far, except that I miss my adult beverages. Frown

I did the same experiment last year, but told myself 3 months. It's now been 8-9 months without a single drop.

True Story here: Years ago, I worked with a dude who came from a Muslim family. He was thoroughly westernized and took his family traditions with a grain of salt.

He used to go out with us when we had a few drinks after work on Fridays (this was when I was young and single and the weekend party started when work ended on Friday).

I noticed that every time a round of drinks was served, Muslim Dude would dip his finger into his glass and flick a tiny bit of the drink out of the glass. I asked him what it was about.

He replied, "The Koran tells us not to drink a single drop. That's the drop that I'm not drinking."

Remodel the house. Already have the cash.
Increase my cardio.
Cut out once a week cheat meal so 100% of my meals are prepared in my kitchen.
No alcohol. I don’t drink regularly so not a big change.
Ride more.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone
