Unable. My partner is off on a business trip with the Bonanza, and my friend’s Grumman that lives in my hangar and I’m welcome to use is out of annual.

Well...damn. Surely you can steal a plane from somebody? At the very least, go get yourself a propeller beanie and make airplane sounds while drinking Manischevitz. Wink

Guess you owe yourself a Birthday flight.

To me, there’s nothing special about birthdays after the first hundred or so. Keep ‘me flying. Smile

Too much like work. Now that I no longer travel for business (which was work, too), most of my flying falls into one of a few instructional categories:They are all "work."

With fifty-plus years as a commercial pilot / CFI, and thousands of hours under my belt, I no longer look at flying as a "fun" thing. The newness has worn off, when I fly now, it is just a job. Not an odious job, but a job nevertheless. Much as, to dream up an example, AskSmith might like his work as a mail carrier, but I bet that on his day off or his birthday, he does not spend a few hours going from mailbox to mailbox.

Most people in the western world use the Gregorian calendar. October, 1852*, had 31 days on the Julian calendar, ten of which are not present on the Gregorian calendar, which just dropped those ten days.

Leap years are treated differently on Julian vs. Gregorian calendars. Julian calendar treats all centuries as leap years. Gregorian century years are leap years only if evenly divisible by 400. So, 1900, for example, would be leap year on Julian calendar, but not on Gregorian.

Amazing, the amount of trivia I picked up while spending many years as a UNIX® programmer / teacher.
*EDIT: Correction. The "lost days" were not the same in all locations. For Britain and her colonies (that's us), it was September, 1752.
