I stumbled onto these guys a few weeks ago. These trees are called Trembesi trees. Their videos are filmed in Indonesia. After the first 2 to 4 minutes you get a good idea of what the barefoot guy does high up in the tree. That chainsaw is an extension of his arm. He’s pretty good with that saw, with or without shoes. After that, you can choose to watch the whole video (they are a little on the long side) or skip around, but do watch the last 2 to 3 minutes to watch how these guys get the logs to the truck.

Thank goodness he had a safety line for that beast of a saw Big Grin he sure likes running it with more slack in the chain than I would.

While I wouldn’t cut without boots on, he does have the advantage of grip and feel by being barefoot. He will know sooner that I that the feet are slipping.

His saw is powerful and sharp. Ideal for doing what he is doing. The heavy part - not so much.

My neighbor hooked me up with a crew from Salvador. No shoes, excellent climbing and tree cutting skills. Took down four trees and trimmed up my pecan tree. Explained I wanted no heavy equipment on the property, all stumps ground and fill dirt put in. Watching someone climb trees barefoot is amazing to me. Did a great job.

Boots/no boots, don't worry the saw will slice right through them, won't even slow down.

You should see sawmill videos filmed in China (presumably) or other types of woodworking/woodturning videos from SE Asia.

60" diameter log we're working with? Flip flops seem like the perfect footwear!

Is that a fossil fuel powered small engine?

Forget the footwear.

Dangit, when I clicked-it ... I was certain that there was going-to-be a Jerry Clower, Maurice Ledbetter, joke in this thread. Or a "knock'em-out John" sequel or something.

No itty bitty arborist saw for him. He's using a saw with a long bar.

I see a few enjoyed this video. I always wonder what they do with all the slash that is left over. The slack in the chain is one of the first things I noticed when I first found this channel. I’m sure there is a reason he runs the chain so slack, but I don’t have a clue as to why that would be.

Better grip with bare feet is what I thought, but I’ve never had feet that tough. I can’t remember if I’ve ever been as flexible as that guy in the tree either.

It’s probably the camera angle and how much it is zoomed in, but it does look like he has that chain incredibly close to his body parts a lot, but he does seem to know what he is doing. It has to be hot there, but half of the guys seem to be wearing hoodies anyway. I haven’t a clue as to why one wears hoodies on a hot day. I’ll bet these guys don’t make much money at all. Their videos are good entertainment, and every once in a while when I think I'm having a bad day, these guys make me forgetaboutit.
