Agree with some of the comments, today’s washers suck because of the water restrictions built in to them. They are not the washers like yesterday. Our new washer on the “sanitize” setting is nearly 4 hours of washing. So what I saved in water is eaten up by electricity. The new washer is not even close to the Kenmore top load I should have not given away.

Yes, along with Kitchen Aid, Amana, Insinkerator, and a host of other companies, they are of course international. Maytags washers for the US are primarily made in the USA, Ohio, IL, IA, TN which is nice. Google says, Maytag for Durability, heavy use, whirlpool has more Smart Features, energy efficiency, ie more smart home integration. We have Maytage front loaders, they are about 10 years old, the washer has been flawless, the dryer has eaten up several heating coils, the culprit might be I was buying junk replacements on jeffbezos.com. This last go round was all Maytag parts, so we'll see if that holds. part of the IMO is that the exhaust goes up through the roof, probably need to put an inline fan in that to help remove the heat. When these go we're going top load, we don't need the massive capacity of the front loaders and I want the room in the mudroom. Found a good review of Maytag washers, front and top, perhaps it will help. https://www.reviewed.com/laund...ing-machines-washers

Wife and I have Whirlpool over 20 years old and multiple family moves. Sorry on model- ours is front load. But reliability has been first class. Good luck. ___________________________________________ The annual soothsayers and fortunetellers conference has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Knew there was a 4th, forgot about KA. Never been a big fan of the front loaders. We tend to leave the lid up when not in use to let it air out. Almost all the front loaders I've used are always a bit humid inside. The Enemy's gate is down.

Thanks for all the responses so far. This is useful. OK, Maytag it is, and not Whirlpool. The question now is which one. Unfortunately, all the Maytag commercial stuff seems to be out of stock at the moment on the Friends and Family portal. I'm going to be taking a few days to decide, so, maybe they'll get restocked in the interim.

Remember, after care is important. Take care in where you purchase, and who you purchase from. Do they offer license bonded insured repair service . Or Who do the recommend? What is the return policy? Is installation and hauling the old machines away included or is there a fee? Stay away from the cheap accordion dryer vent hose. If you use fabric softener, Run a load of hot water through the machine with it empty . Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. The most recent one we have is from 5+ years ago. Maytag WTW4900BW1. Has the basics but it’s a no frills machine. I did a search and they are still showing at Home Depot for a little over $500. We don’t have kids, just two of us but have had zero problems so far. Seems to wash well. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Good point. The big box stores contract it out to the low bidder.
