TomSThinking of buying a used Jeep Cherokeee 4x4...
I'm thinking about getting one with a V8. Maybe '05-'08 with relatively low miles like 120k.
Good, bad, ugly?
Thanks for input.
Best regards,
Tom

Excam_ManOnly thing I will say, is there's no room to work on the V8.

P-220Son has an '06 Grand Cherokee.
We did have to rebuild the tranny ($3,500) I believe.
Overall, it has been a great vehicle for him.
Well.........................the Hemi does get terrible gas mileage. But.......it does put a smile on my face when I get to drive it.

ScorpionBoyThat is a Grand Cherokee.
I much prefer the XJ myself, those Grands have some kinks.

Told my wife it's been easier than ever to stick to my workout schedule, lately, because every time I go work out I get to drive my JGC with the Hemi in it

NframeI inherited an '03 GC 2 years ago with the V8 it had a 30,000 miles on it and I'm at 51K now. Runs like a scalded dog and about 15-18 mpg.
Thinking of giving it to my 16 Y/O son for his first car.......

old rugged crossAdmittedly I do not know jeeps well. But I would be looking for one with a six cylinder and manual transmission.

120K is considered low?

AllenInARI bought a 2000 XJ for my son, the 6 cyl. Lots of aftermarket parts, plenty of good spare parts to be found in junkyards, engine is considered bullet-proof. Frame/subframe rust is the big thing to look out for. Our XJ squeaked, groaned, rattled.....but it took us everywhere and was a load of fun.

Hemi innit to a 16-year-old young man...
Good luck with that

For a 10-13 year old vehicle? Yes, I think so.
Best regards,
Tom

He is probably trying to get one that has not been trashed. Another dozen or so he might get lucky
