Pipe SmokerFederal Judge Finds CA Hi-Cap Mag Ban Unconstitutional
Woo hoo! The 18-round mags for my P226 X5 Comp just arrived from TGS, a day earlier than promised. I never would’ve guessed that mags could look so beautiful!
Serious about crackers. April 05, 2019, 07:14 PM
medic451Well, its done, past 5pm....
It was a glorious week for CA, hopefully this is just the end of the beginning for us.

So, the judge blinked at Becerra's threat?
I haven’t read pages 9 and 10 yet, but that’s not how I see it.
Judge Benitez, in my opinion, had this orchestrated since before his original ruling. I believe he knew exactly what was going to happen. I believe he knew his original ruling would trigger the mass, near frantic ordering. He wanted that. He waited for a three day weekend near the end of tax season to release his 86 pages of liberty.
86 pages that also happen to lay the groundwork for other 2A battles that have the potential to dial back restrictions across the nation, not just hear. He knew. He planned. He calculated.
He knew the state would respond as they did and he knew what the 9th was likely to do. This partial stay was planned long ago, I suspect. It’s not a bad thing, it protects the integrity of the case as it moves forward.
The state is stumbling along, a lumbering giant who is so full of itself and confident in their own invincibility that they can’t see a smaller faster fighter taking then to town.
This is the long game that His Honor is playing and everybody else is just trying to figure out what happened.
I had the same idea, our AG was playing way out of his league and took a fastball to the chest. Watching him gasp for air is better than getting those 100,000 plus mags enter the state. I wonder how he is going to address that in his appeal.

slosigThe P320 mags are here and stored. The Lancers are showing Monday if FedEx can figure it out. The Beretta, Sp2022, and P228 mags are radio silence as of 1500PST. Before too long, I’ll probably either have a “shipped” or a “cancelled“ email. Time will tell.

I suspect your estimate is way way way way off. I bet it was at least 1.5 million new mags plus an unknown number of mags pulled out of
storage lakes (darn boating accidents) and de-riveted/deblocked standard mags.... I remember seeing a supposed quote from a Brownells employee claiming 350,000 mags were sold in the first 30ish hours that they opened up ordering, and they didn’t begin taking orders until Monday. A full fledged buying frenzy has been in place since Saturday.
More than a million for sure, which is good for the “in common useage” portion of Heller.
Yes sir, things are looking up.

It's pretty awesome that things worked out such that suddenly there's no such thing as pre-ban (that is Pre-1994) mags either. Hell, I bet even some "LEO ONLY" marked mags were legally "sold" last week in CA.

or reassembled from parts, or brought back in after keeping them out of state, or sent as gifts from out of state friends and relatives or , or ,, or ,,,
The reason i picked greater than 100,000 is because i dont know the real number, no one does. 1 million , maby, 2 million possible , anyones guess, 10 million ? who is to say.
Wonder what the AG is going to propose about this.
I visited Senator Feinstein web site. In her services provided , she will send congradulations letters. I requested she send a congradulation letter to the California Rifle and Pistol Association, and the NRA.
It is with egar anticipation i await her response.

ElToroThe good news is this week basically legalized everything somebody may have acquired in the last 20 years. I loved seeing a guy at a gun shop or the range with an XD or M&P or other new gun with a 11+ mag and the gun wasn't even made in the 90s and he’s telling me he bought the mags Pre ban. Lol. Right bro. Your safe now.

SigSauerP226Got my first shipment, 15 rd .40 226 mags

Still have 2 more orders coming next week. Very happy I got in on the frenzy even with the original uncertainty of the whole thing. All 3 of my orders went out that wonderful Friday night.

LS1 GTOSo how many here, who don't live in California, are upset there's no magazines in stock?

Nah, I learned my lesson. Stacked DEEP here with mags already, I only add them with new acquisitions or when it's 'too cheap not to buy'.

Nah, when I lived in CA, I bought hundreds of magazine "kits", then shipped them to a buddy out of state shortly before we moved, when Prop 63 passed.
It took a while to assemble the kits into whole mags

Not me. Other than waiting for P210 Target mags to go on sale at Sig or somewhere, I'm GTG. I've taken Para's admonishment to "get while the gettin's good" to heart.
Besides: I'm enjoying our friends in California benefiting and seeing the anti-freedom Democrats getting a big FU

This exactly. Good for our California folks.
I set the goal of 10 magazines per rifle last year. Checked inventory last week... I need more rifles

slosigI doubt that many (if any) begrudge those of us behind enemy lines our brief opportunity to bring in normal capacity magazines. Who knows, the push might even spur a little more production, and the demand (or at least the window to exercise the demand) was short lived. Besides, anything that gives a big FU to the gun grabbers is a good thing.

I hope that everyone realizes that we’re all in this together. It’s sweet if someone lives in a free state and thinks that all that’s necessary to enjoy the same freedoms is to pull up roots and move. Be assured, though, that unless we all support each other, and even though it may be after they’ve worked through most of their lists and come for everyone else, sooner or later they will come for you. Believing anything else is a delusional fantasy.
And I also hope we all keep in mind that this victory wasn’t due to a single judge. None of it would have happened if some of those in the trenches behind the lines hadn’t worked hard to challenge the law.
