I found this insect/beetle on freshly cut stumps on our property in Northern Michigan. I've been up there all of my life and never have seen anything like this... any thoughts? Interesting. Not a dead thing around, but they seemed to congregate on the stumps of freshly cut maple trees. I'll guess they were sugar maples given the sap pools on the stumps and time of year.
