There was a time 15 or 20 years ago when both cable TV and movie studios were inexplicably throwing money at stand-up comedians hoping they'd learn how to act.

sandler was good in the Wedding Singer

Chris Tucker was fantastic in The Fifth Element

Chris Rock was a good Zebra in Madagascar

Molly is a decent actress, for what she did in John Hughes films, but is a much better singer,

and yes, I have seen her sing , as in a concert, and it was excellent

Four pages in and no mention of Neil Breen?

Not only is he one of the worst actors out there, he is also one of the worlds directors, and one of the worst writers, plus he is one of the worst producers.

I guess I can’t think of Robbins outside of Shawshank, but I loved that movie (and most things Freeman has done)..

Agree to disagree about Brad Pitt. Much as I wanted to dislike him for a time, I then saw Burn After Reading..
watch that, then watch Inglorious Bastards.
He can act.

That reminds me - I also don’t really get John Malkovich.

And a thought about the comments mentioning 1 trick ponies: I wonder if the directors asked for “that persona” in their next movie... Or maybe once the actor landed on a massive moneymaking style/character that resonated with audiences, why not stick to it and bank some coin?
For example, I wasn’t nearly as excited about “Regarding Henry” as I was about any “Indiana” movie..

Brad Pitt:

I have seen Inglorious Basterds. I think his bad acting complimented his part.
I havent seen Snatch the whole way through. So I cant judge it.
Never saw Burn after Reading.

But I have seen Troy. Terrible.

Harrison Ford. No one can replace him as Indiana Jones but his other movies are all the same style.

Yeah, I never liked Melanie Griffith either; also don’t like Scarlett Johansson.

Just never saw any depth.

There are a lot of good really-bad-actor nominees in this thread but I have to go with Steven Seagal as the worst lead actor in movie after movie. While I enjoyed some of his movies, he played essentially the same Steven Seagal-like character in every one and came across as dry, droll, and monotonous as could be until it was time to give someone a compound fracture, beat them up entirely, or distract the viewer with yet another action scene. Since action scenes were spaced so close together, one could generally put up with the incredibly bad performance in getting there.

I watched that again recently, and was reminded of just how laughably bad of an actor he was.

If you took a shot every time he grimaced and pinched the bridge of his nose as a reaction to something that was said or done, you'd die of alcohol poisoning well before the end credits rolled.

(42 times. Someone out there counted. He does it 7 times in a row in one scene.)

They literally walked up to him on the street at age 16 and asked if he wanted to be in the movie. I remember when watching it in the theater the first time and noticing how distracting his nose grabbing was Smile
