Captured on Friday. The 1st pic, taken while the highway was deserted. I stopped for the 2nd pic, just a of minutes minutes later, but the second rainbow was starting to fade away.

I can't put my finger on where that is. I know I've seen that train car thousands of times. Is that over in the Hwy 6 area??

Hempstead Hwy, which runs pretty much parallel to 290. That train unit is nonfunctional and, up until a few months ago, was a restaurant. It's now out of business. The street ahead is N. Gessner, where I turned a took the 2nd pic.

You probably already know this, but a polarizing filter greatly enhances rainbow photos.

The most impressive rainbow I have ever seen, unfortunately I did not have a camera with me: I was working in the Birmingham area and commuting home on weekends.

It was late afternoon on a Friday, I was southeast bound toward home (the Orlando area), level at 7,000' with a solid cloud layer below me. I had just passed through some light rain, sun was starting to set behind me, over my right shoulder.

I looked down to my left at the cloud layer, there was a bright full circle rainbow, in the center was the shadow silhouette, cast by the setting sun, of my airplane.

We were out in Katy on Friday afternoon, coming from 99S onto I10E on the flyover & saw it too.
Most vibrant rainbow I've ever seen.

I too have seen a full circle rainbow. It was from a puddle jumper on a flight to the island of Saba. It was one of those, “Oh; that’s how that works,” events.

I don't believe in such things, but it was very strange and message like...Last year when I left California, having had enough, I encountered this entering Texas right at the border. Clouds and storm, then beautiful sky as I went across the border. You can see the wet pavement in the mirror.

I believe the double rainbow guy passed away last year or the year before.

I did not know that, Pipesmoker, thanks!

Hawaii really is the land of rainbows.
"Have you ever seen the rain comin' down on a sunny day?" Yeah, all the time on Maui.
That's the combination that gives you spectacular rainbows; especially upcountry, where it's rainy on the windward side and sunny on the leeward side.

Love the double-rainbows! Smile

Not sure what atmospheric phenomena causes them, but whatever it is must love Hawaii: been there several times, and it seems like double-rainbows happened there daily no matter whether on the Big Island, Maui, or Oahu.
