CNN: Make it a crime to broadcast murder on Facebook
I read this and am nearly speechless. How would one argue this point face to face with the author? All the various laws and penalties concerning homicide aren't enough, we need one more re: Facebook and that will make the difference? I think the author just needs slapped across the face...

How about the media stop making these animals into celebrities? Ya think it ever crossed their tiny pea brains?

Hypocrisy and stupidity is quite a cocktail.

I figured that it was dated April 1st....sadly, it wasn't. Read the whole thing, the stupid is beyond belief there.

Making it illegal to post on Facebook will certainly put a dent in the national murder rate. I'll sleep better once that law is on the books that's for sure. Who would have thought it was so easy.

I have a better idea.

Criminalize proposals to criminalize tangential acts to actions that are already crimes.

Why the hate? This guy is an idea guy...thinking outside the box. Imagine the lives he may have saved just by positing this.

How about we just make Facebook illegal. I'd get behind that one.

No one cares about the criminal liability.
These sorts of things soften up the target though. It's all about getting to the pot of gold. Facebook has a HUGE pile of dough.... and plaintiff attorneys always see dollar signs.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Mandatory unfriending.
That will fix things right up.
No one wants to be unfriended.

Better yet, make it a crime to murder someone with a gun on Facebook.

Would it make it a hate crime since I hate Facebook?

On a serious note. Not a fan of lawsuits but I'd support the victims family going after FB for emotional distress or the like.

Yessir! I can see all potential murderers quaking with fear at the thought of it all.

Do you support suing bars when some is injured or dies in a DWI?

I especially liked this line:

quote:
The challenge here is that criminalizing Facebook broadcasts of one's crimes does potentially infringe upon one's freedom of speech about those crimes.

Wouldn't want to infringe on a criminal's rights, now would we?

If anything, these boneheaded criminals posting their deeds online make the jobs easier for LE.
